Abstract

Se describe un procedimiento para preparar productos de deshidratación cíclica a partir de alcoholes de azúcar. El procedimiento implica usar una mezcla de reacción de catalizador de ácido mixto que contiene un ácido reductor, que tiene un pka de aproximadamente 1.0-1.5, y al menos un ácido de Brønsted fuerte o un ácido de Lewis, que tiene una pka = 0 o ambos ácidos en una disolución para deshidratar y cerrar en anillo dicho alcohol de azúcar. De manera sinérgica, la catálisis por ácido mixto puede producir mayores cantidades del productos deseado a niveles similares de recuento de composición que cualquiera de los catalizadores de ácido componentes actuando solos.
