Abstract
Un método para eliminar una región de ADN en una planta. En algunas modalidades, el método comprende transformar una planta con una molécula de ácido nucleico, en donde la molécula de ácido nucleico codifica una o más nucleasas del dedo de zinc (ZFNs) enlazada de manera operable a uno o más promotores específicos del tejido, por ejemplo, un promotor específico de polen. Los métodos incluyen la remoción de genes naturales en una planta. Por consiguiente, en algunas modalidades, son diseñados los ZFNs que reconocen secuencias que flanquean los genes naturales de la planta. En otra modalidad adicional, los ZNFs son expresados bajo el control de los promotores específicos de la etapa de desarrollo de modo que, por ejemplo, las secuencias de ácido nucleico son removidas específicamente en las plantas durante las etapas relativamente tardías de desarrollo. Se incluyen también moléculas de ácido nucleico útiles para llevar a cabo los métodos descritos y las plantas producidas mediante dichos métodos.
