Se revela un material biodegradable, biocompatible y no tóxico, que puede se utilizado para aislar y/o proteger un producto del medio ambiente, donde dicho material comprende una matriz compuesta por almidón, glicerol y nanocristales de almidón dispersos en dicha matriz. El material puede ser utilizado en forma de películas, láminas, films, cubiertas, geles, etc., para aislar y/o proteger un producto del medio ambiente. El material puede ser utilizado para aislar y o proteger productos alimenticios, farmacéuticos, cosméticos y de limpieza.
