Abstract

Se provee un método para producir ácido graso anteiso. El método comprende cultivar una célula que comprende al menos un polinucleótido exógeno o sobreexpresado que comprende una secuencia de ácido nucleico que codifica un polipéptido que cataliza al menos una de las siguientes reacciones: conversión de piruvato a citramalato; conversión de citramalato a citraconato; conversión de citraconato a ß-metil-D-malato; conversión de ß -metil-D-malato a 2-oxobutanoato; o conversión de treonina a 2-oxobutanoato, en condiciones que permiten la expresión del(os) polinucleótido(s) y la producción de ácido graso anteiso. Opcionalmente, la célula comprende, además, al menos un polinucleótido exógeno o sobreexpresado que comprende una secuencia de ácido nucleico que codifica un polipéptido que cataliza la conversión de 2-oxobutanoato a 2-aceto-2-hidroxi-butir ato, la conversión de 2-aceto-2- hidroxi-butirato a 2,3-dihidroxi-3-metilvalerato y/o la conversión de 2,3-dihidroxi-3- metilvalerato a a-ceto-3-metilvalerato. Además, se provee una célula que produce ácido graso anteiso y un método para usar la célula para producir ácido graso anteiso.
