Abstract

La presente invención se refiere de forma general a composiciones lubricantes a base de diésteres que comprenden una o más mezclas isoméricas de especies de diésteres. La presente invención se refiere asimismo a métodos para preparar estas y otras composiciones lubricantes similares. En algunas modalidades, los métodos para preparar los lubricantes a base de diésteres utilizan un material precursor de biomasa a partir del cual pueden proporcionarse o de otro modo generarse las especies de lípidos libres monoinsaturados, donde las especies de lípidos libres monoinsaturados se convierten en especies de dioles isoméricas en vía a la síntesis de las especies de diésteres para su uso como/en composiciones lubricantes a base de diésteres.
