Abstract
La presente invención se relaciona con un método para seleccionar una cepa de un organismo capaz de un mejor consumo de sustrato mixto que contiene dos o más fuentes de carbono comparado con un cepa de referencia del organismo, cuyo método comprende: el crecimiento de una población de la cepa de referencia del organismo en presencia de dos o más fuentes de carbono, en donde el número de generaciones de crecimiento de dicha población sobre cada una de dichas fuentes de carbono es aproximadamente al menos del 50% del número de generaciones de crecimiento sobre la fuente de carbono más preferida por el organismo; y seleccionar la cepa resultante del organismo, seleccionar por lo tanto una cepa del organismo capaz de un consumo mejorado de un sustrato mixto que contiene dos o más fuentes de carbono comparado con la cepa de referencia del organismo. La invención también se relaciona con cepas de organismos seleccionadas utilizando tal método. Las cepas de organismo identificadas utilizando el método de selección pueden ser utilizadas en procesos de fermentación en los cuales se utiliza un sustrato mixto.
