Abstract
Esta invención caracteriza métodos y aparato para la producción de gas de síntesis a partir de cualquier material de alimentación que contiene carbón. En algunas modalidades, una cantidad subestequiométrica de oxígeno se usa para potenciar la formación de gas de síntesis. En diversas modalidades, tanto oxígeno y vapor de agua se agregan durante la conversión del material de alimentación dentro de gas de síntesis. El gas de síntesis se puede convertir a alcoholes, tal como etanol, o a otros productos.
