Abstract

Un fluido sensible al campo que entra en un estado semi-sólido en presencia de un campo de energía se mejora mediante el uso de una pluralidad de partículas sensibles al campo de energía las cuales forman cadenas en respuesta al campo de energía. Las partículas pueden ser (a) partículas compuestas en las cuales al menos un miembro sensible al campo que tiene una primera densidad se une a al menos un miembro que tiene una segunda densidad que es menor que la primera densidad, (b) partículas moldeadas en las cuales al menos un miembro sensible al campo tiene una o más inclusiones, y (c) combinaciones de éstas. Las partículas mejoran el fluido sensible al campo reduciendo la densidad sin eliminar las propiedades sensibles al campo que producen utilidad. Además, puede utilizarse un fluido base de múltiples fases que incluye una mezcla de dos o más sustancias, al menos dos de las cuales son inmiscibles. El fluido base de múltiples fases mejora el fluido sensible al campo por a tensión superficial entre los límites de las sustancias inmiscibles en conjunto con cadenas formadas por partículas sensibles al campo tiende a detener o retardar el flujo termofluente, resultando un sello dinámico o estático mejorado.
