Abstract
A multi purpose anti-roll bar is presented, which is manufactured with a steel tube providing extra protection to the cabins of commercial vehicles for transporting passengers or load, specially to load trucks adapted for the transportation of vehicles over a platform, also providing a storing means of compressed air or gas. Said bar is useful as a buffer tank located between a system of high pressure tanks and a system for the control of flow and pressure for the inflating and deflating of tires and/or pneumatic suspension system. In addition, the invention provides a space and the means required to mount a spare tire, emergency triangles, electric or air speakers, fog lights, advertisements and the desired accessories. The invention may also include a grid for providing more protection to the cabin rear windshield.
Description
MULTIFUNCTION ANTI-SLIP BAR
Object of the Invention
The object of the present invention is to provide commercial vehicles for cargo or passenger transport with a protection for the driver's cabin that prevents damage to this area of the vehicle in the event of rollovers, and at the same time provide a storage volume of air or compressed gas to have a greater reserve that feeds the systems of pneumatic suspension and inflation of the tires. Likewise, the device object of this invention provides a suitable space for housing the spare wheel and a firm support for signaling or marking by visual or luminous signals when dealing with vehicles operating in emergency conditions.
The present invention innovates the way to protect against rollovers and collisions to the cabins of commercial vehicles for transporting cargo, passengers or other applications at the same time as providing them with a means to store compressed air or gas to assist a pneumatic system, mounted on a vehicle, which feeds the tire inflation or deflation pressure control system and / or a pneumatic suspension, either with the vehicle stationary or in motion.
Background.
In the state of the art it is known to use anti-roll bars in racing vehicles as well as in pick-up or jeep-type vehicles, which serve to protect the cabin and the pilot in the event of a rollover. Likewise, it is known to use arc-shaped bars in trucks specially adapted for transporting cars on platforms, which provide rigidity, helping to avoid twisting and deformation of the loading platform.
It is also known that in trucks modified for the transport of cars on platform there is no comfortable and accessible place to carry a spare tire or wheel.
On the other hand, in commercial vehicles equipped with pneumatic suspension systems and tire pressure control either in motion or in a static position, one or two pressure tanks have to be adapted to store a limited reserve of compressed air. or another working gas, using the available space with the restriction of not affecting the space for the payload. This restriction makes it necessary for said tanks to be operated at the highest possible pressure, of the order of 7 to 15 atmospheres, in order to have the maximum amount of compressed air possible, as far as practical to do so with tanks that do not require thicknesses of excessive wall and therefore are very heavy.
In addition, pneumatic control systems work at lower pressures than those that should be handled in storage tanks, with the risk that an uncontrolled opening of any of the valves in the system could damage both the components of the suspension and the tires. and the control system itself.
The need to solve such limitations originated the present invention.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The multifunction roll bar object of the present invention, described in Figure 1, consists of two or more interconnected, cold-bent pipes and preferably manufactured in steel alloys, including stainless steel, with a diameter between 70 and 120 mm, and a thickness of between .75 and 1.5mm, which are mounted on a commercial vehicle carrying cargo or passengers behind and above the cabin in order to protect the passenger compartment and, thus, protect the pilot and other occupants in case of any accident.
Likewise, this multi-function roll bar is connected on the one hand to a pneumatic system of high pressure by means of a regulator, and on the other hand to a pneumatic system for the control of pressure and flow of air or compressed gas to feed a pneumatic suspension system and / or inflation or deflation of the tires of the vehicle, functioning as a reservoir of low pressure from which the air or compressed gas is extracted and goes towards the tires and pneumatic bags of the suspension. The roll bar will work, as well, as a buffer tank that will protect the sensitive elements of the pneumatic system in case of an accidental discharge of the high pressure tanks. It has two or more purges that are located in the lower covers and other low points if any, in order to keep the interior of the system dry.
Being mounted on the cockpit, it offers ample space to place all kinds of accessories that this type of vehicle requires, providing means to mount a spare tire, bugle or air or electric horn, beacons, fog lights and tools, as well as space to place any type of advertising and other accessories as desired.
You can carry a grille covering the medallion or rear glass of the cabin in order to provide an extra means of protection for the cabin, the pilot and other occupants.
As an example, in the particular case of trucks adapted for transporting cars on platforms without rolling them, I recommend (without this imitating the extent of the rights promoted with this patent, referring to the "inventive concept" contemplated in the legislation), the use of the multifunction roll bar to protect the cabin in the event of a failure in the fastening system that keeps a vehicle transported on the platform and it slides into the cabin.
A second example is if there is a sudden opening of the high pressure pneumatic system, which could put the tires or pneumatic bags at risk. In this case, the multifunction roll bar will absorb this pressure increase thanks to its large storage capacity of air or gas, preventing permanent damage to the sensitive elements of the low pressure pneumatic system, which could put the integrity of the vehicle at risk .
Another example is in the case of a rollover or collision, in which the rollover bar will provide an extra means to protect the cabin and its occupants.
A further example of the application of the present invention is in the case of heavy or towing trucks, as well as in construction machinery, agriculture, forestry and other equipment operating on and off the roads, including of civil and military use, in which it is desired to store compressed air or gas while providing protection against a collision or rollover to the vehicle cabin.
A further example of the present invention consists in the use of the anti-tipping bar to protect the operator from the construction, handling and lifting machinery of loads such as forklifts, and to give a firm and high-resistance support to the roof of the cabin. or the operator's seat.
