Abstract
Un método o proceso para tratar agua residual que contiene materiales orgánicos elevados, dióxido de silicio, boro, dureza y sólidos suspendidos y disueltos. El método incluye desgasificar el agua residual para la remoción de gases disueltos y más adelante ablandar químicamente el agua residual. Después de la etapa de ablandamiento químico, el agua residual se conduce a través de un filtro intermedio o membrana la cual remueve sólidos y precipitantes adicionales. Más adelante, el agua residual se conduce a través de un intercambio iónico de sodio que demás ablanda el agua residual. El efluente a partir del intercambio iónico se conduce a través de un filtro de cartucho y el efluente a partir del filtro de cartucho se conduce a través de una o más unidades de ósmosis inversa. En una fase seleccionada del proceso, antes que el agua residual alcance la unidad o unidades de ósmosis inversa, el pH del agua residual se eleva y se mantiene de manera que el pH del agua residual que alcanza una unidad de ósmosis inversa está en un pH mayor de 10.5.
