Esta invencion se refiere a una polialfa-olefina (y analogos hidrogenados de la misma) comprendiendo mas de 50% molar de uno o mas monomeros de alfa-olefina C5 a C24 donde la polialfa-olefina tiene: a) 40% molar o mas de triadas mm, b) un numero de bromo de Y o mayor, donde Y es igual a 89.92*(V)-0.5863, donde V es la viscosidad cinematica de la polialfa-olefina medida a 100 degree Cen cSt, y c) olefinas 1,2-disustituidas presentes en 7% molar o mas, de preferencia teniendo Z% molar o mas de unidades representadas por la formula: (ver formula) donde j, k y m son cada uno, de manera independiente, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, o 22, n es un entero de 1 a 350, y donde z-8.420*log(V) -4.048, donde V es la viscosidad cinematica de la polialfa. Olefina medida a 100 degree Cen cSt. Esta invencion tambien se refiere a un proceso para producir tales polialfa- olefinas.
