Omni Music welcomes the experimental breakbeat mastery of Alek W to the label. His debut EP is a tour de force of chopped rhythms with psychedelic jazz overtones. The brooding opener of Hotel Class hits the listener with off-key funk stabs, breakbeat galore and a deeply ominous bassline before Piece takes the funk elements and merges with them frantic jungle breaks and lighter tones while still delivering a high octane sonic journey. He drops the tempo on Use Your Imagination as experimental drums stutter nervously around a landscape of distant foreboding strings and bursts of jazz fused sounds. The EP ends with Astral Haze's take on Piece, transforming the original into a rolling acid-soaked dancefloor journey. We are looking forward to more from this interesting new talent.
