LAST WEEK A QUICK STOP AT VENTURA HARBOR/MARINA

On our way home from several days in Pismo, we stopped at the marina in Ventura.  It felt great to get out and walk along the harbor.  I noticed they were building a lot of condo's or apartments and it just reminded me that there is never a time when more and more building is NOT going on in California.  Seems like everywhere I look it continues to expand with more and more people buying expensive houses or condos and the freeways get more clogged with traffic.

When we were in Seattle last month I couldn't believe the amount of buildings going up in downtown.  I just saw a news report today that a crane collapsed in down Seattle killing four people and injurying three others.  Very sad.

Anyway, nice to be home and enjoying our great mountain weather.

VARIOUS MOUNTAIN SCENES IN THE LAST FEW DAYS - OR WEEK

Green Valley Lake, then Arrowbear lake and then Running Springs.

It's been too nice to stay in and we have been out quite a bit.  Green Valley Lake was beautiful and there was still snow in some places, like near that little building on the lake.  There altitude is higher than we are ...they are about 7000 ft which is why they l have some snow although most photos don't show that.  ArrowBear Lake still has a lot of water.

ARROWBEAR LAKE

Running springs  i like this property - would love to have the trailer to go on trips.

YESTERDAY'S OUTING - HIKING A BIT AROUND THE MOJAVE RIVER DAM

I had no idea that the Pacific Crest Trail cut through this area.  We had gone over to Hesparia area with the idea of visiting the mountains where we use to live for awhile before we moved here.  We never did make it because we found a trail to explore.   Because it wasn't a hot day we were able to go check it out and at some point we came to where this river runs through (not sure why the water looked so brown, probably very shallow because farther away in the sunlight it was blue.

In a different area we went up to the top of the dam at Silverlake area and it was closed off to the public.  We had been able to get through to it before but probably because any area in nature which is open to the public - is a target for graffiti.  Eventually probably all parks will be closed in the future as more and more people deface everything they see around them.  Really VERY irritating.  Coming down from the dam area i was able to get pics of the wildflowers and irrigation channels. This area is a huge many acre ranch and often have cattle and horses out grazing.

on the way back we stopped again in this area above and I found a way to get close up to some poppies.

I LOVE CITY SCENES

This is one of many from my recent trip to Seattle.   I'll be putting more up in the future.

There are so many cities and towns I would love to visit in  Washington and hopefully with each trip I make there I'll see more.

STORYBOOK LANE AND OTHER STUFF

The other day we were down in Redlands and found a street we had never been on before.  I really didn't get good pics of the whole street - but every house looks like a storybook house.  The street is called something else which I'm not sure what - but Storybook - fits what we saw.

Then on the way home to the mountains we got off on a street in Highland which is one of the cities below the foothills and checked out the area to see if we could find walking trails.  I'm always looking for places to get out and walk that are different.  Sometimes I get tired of just mountain scenery and go looking for something else.

The street we are traveling on where you see the mountains - those are the mountains we live in.

I will definitely get back to Storybook Lane to get better photos and of course to walk in my favorite neighborhoods.  I also want to get to that Parkland Trail to see what that's about and noticed a lot of bridle trails in the neighborhoods over in Highland that look promising to walk.

You can see which house I obviously loved.
