August 30 is National Toasted Marshmallow Day. The Simpsons know how to celebrate!
September 3 is Welsh Rarebit (also called Welsh Rabbit) Day. In case you didn’t know, Welsh rabbit contains no rabbit. And here’s Bugs Bunny in a 1951 short called “French Rarebit,” which does contain a rabbit but isn’t Welsh.
July 26 is National Bagelfest Day. Remember the episode of Seinfeld where Kramer returned to work at H&H Bagels after a 12-year strike? In this clip, he drops a wad of chewed gum into the bagel dough.
June 2 is National Fish & Chip Day. When I hear “fish and chips,” the first thing that pops into my head is the jingle for the 1970s fast-food chain Arthur Treacher’s Fish & Chips.
More about Arthur Treacher’s Fish & Chips and the real Arthur Treacher on Michael’s TV Tray.
The first week of May is National Raisin Week. In this 1982 California Raisin commercial, Molly Ringwald is a raisin-pushing babysitter. This was two years after she was sacked from The Facts of Life in its infamous second-season character purge, but before she hit it big with the Brat Pack. The kid sticking her greedy hand into the raisin box is Emily Schulman, who, three years later, played nosy neighbor Harriet on Small Wonder.
For National Cherry Pie Day, February 20:

November 28 is National French Toast Day.
Lifting a fork to eat French toast is such a burden. Why can’t someone invent a way to eat it with your fingers? Oh, look—it’s French Toast Sticks from Burger King! The 1986 commercial has a catchy jingle.
October 10 is National Angel Food Cake Day. In this 1956 commercial for Swans Down Angel Food Cake Mix, Bob Hope will “crown you an angel when you make the queen of cakes.”
October 4 is National Taco Day.
Remember on Dallas when Pam woke up and saw Bobby in the shower, and it turned out his death and the entire previous season had been a dream?
What if, instead, she woke up and discovered that Ewing Oil was a dream, and Bobby really worked at Taco Bell? It might have looked something like this 1976 Taco Bell commercial starring Patrick Duffy.
July 20 is National Fortune Cookie Day.
In this clip from the 1990 miniseries Stephen King’s ‘It,’ fortune cookies contain scary things.
June 24 is National Pralines Day.
My first awareness of pralines came from I Love Lucy. Driving through Ohio en route to Hollywood, the Ricardos and Mertzes repeatedly pass signs advertising Aunt Sally’s Pecan Pralines.
“Fifty miles to Aunt Sally’s Pecan Pralines,” Lucy reads aloud from a sign.
“Well, we’re closing in on her. The first sign we saw said ‘Two hundred miles to Aunt Sally’s Pecan Pralines,‘” says Ethel.
“I’m surprised she has time to make pralines—she’s so busy making signs,” Fred quips.
Lucy says, “I’ve just got to drop in on Aunt Sally. I feel like she’s an old friend.”
By this time, the foursome is very hungry, having been on the road for quite a while with no food. Finally, they see a sign reading “One mile to Aunt Sally’s Pecan Pralines.”
“Three hundred yards to Aunt Sally’s!” reads Lucy.
“Two hundred yards!” reads Ethel.
“One hundred yards!” reads Fred.
“Just around the bend!” reads Ricky.
“You have just passed Aunt Sally’s,” reads Lucy.
Dismayed, they turn the car around to see if they can find it. But what they find is an old shed with a sign readling “Out of Business.”
June 7 is National Chocolate Ice Cream Day.
How much do you love chocolate ice cream? Think you could scarf it down fast enough to win an ice-cream-eating contest? Well, that’s what Bobby Brady thought, and [spoiler!] he was wrong.
The week after Easter is National Egg Salad Week, which is essentially a way to get rid of those leftover hard-boiled eggs that the Easter Bunny left behind.
Hey, remember the “Nerds” series of sketches on Saturday Night Live, and how Lisa Loopner’s mother, played by Jane Curtin, always offered people her “famous egg salad”? Gilda Radner played Lisa Loopner, and Bill Murray played Lisa’s boyfriend, Todd. See it in today’s post on Michael’s TV Tray.
April 7 is National Coffee Cake Day.
Coffee cake can come in handy in many situations, so it’s good to take some with you wherever you go. On Seinfeld, for example, Jerry uses Drake’s Coffee Cakes to bribe Newman in order to buy his silence about Jerry’s spending time with someone else’s girlfriend.
