Apollo is a parrot with a large vocabulary who can talk limited English, not just repeating words but asking questions or for things etc. he’s big on YouTube and probably other video sharing sites for his cute videos.

Does he actually ask explicit questions, like inquiring from others information which he does not know and they might? Because that’s a pretty big deal for non-human linguistics. I think there are only two recorded cases of animals asking questions. (Not asking for things; that’s pretty common.)

Yes often asking for help to categorise things, such as what material something is. He feels through hitting his beak and the sound/vibrations it makes, so its interesting what things fall under glass(k) such as ceramics.

Another African Grey Parrot Alex asked questions too, I.e what colour was he I.

That’s really interesting. I’ve seen some of his videos before, but that was quite some time ago. Communication in general is fascinating to me, and I’m especially interested in dispelling the idea that only humans are capable of language. I think that learning to communicate with other species will foster greater respect for them and cause them to be afforded more rights.
