I’ve done a systems analysis of Alberta’s political system—and found out some facts that I suspect few people know. Did you know, for example, that in 121 years not once has a political party governed Alberta, been voted out of office, and then been re-elected? Or that in the last 20 years not one single premier has been in power for more than one term? I argue that Alberta has been a ‘dominant-party’ democracy since the province was created, but that system may now be transitioning into a two-party system. And because of that change Danielle Smith has been supporting extremist factions to hold onto power.

I took the time to read it and found it worthwhile. Actually, also kind of refreshing. It’s nice to have an analysis that’s hopeful for better days in Albertan democracy, even if there is high risk at present and in coming years. I hope your hypotheses end up being right.
