“Now the military is building a big complex under the ballroom, which has come out recently because of a stupid lawsuit that was filed. But the military is building a massive complex under the ballroom, and that’s under construction,” Trump said.

“The ballroom essentially becomes a shed for what’s being built under … including from ‌drones and including from any other thing.”

The 90,000-square-foot (8,360-square-meter) ballroom will replace the East Wing, which Trump ordered demolished in October. Underneath that building was the Presidential Emergency Operations Center, an emergency bunker for the president.

As expected. Someone on YouTube put together the architects and construction firm and some rough information and it’s pretty clear the primary goal is building an AI bunker or something to that effect.

Explains many of the design decisions as well.

He’s going to need more people on his side, these things won’t protect him come next election. Besides, he looks like shit.

Honestly a bunker like this is only useful as a tomb. There was a period in the 50s where nuclear bunkers made sense. The bombs were smaller and hitting within a mile was generally considered on target. But today? In a nuclear conflict, the White House would receive direct precision strikes by multiple bunker-busting thermonuclear bombs. Think of the bunker buster bombs already employed by nations to hit hardened targets, but make them thermonuclear.

In theory, if you dig arbitrarily deep, you could build something to survive. But even Cheyenne Mountain isn’t expected to survive any nuclear war. Our hardened underground missile silos? The doctrine for their use is to make sure they launch before they can be hit. The bunkers just mostly protect them from conventional attacks.

It is just not possible to build something to survive a direct nuclear attack by modern weapons. Sure, if you could literally build something miles deep, it might survive. But any of the access tunnels and elevator shafts to that bunker would be obliterated in the attack. And there would be no practical way to excavate them and rescue people from such depths. All a miles-deep bunker would get you is a slow death via dehydration and suffocation.

The first thing you have to consider is that Trump is an idiot.

He’s screwed up more deals than he ever got right.

Of course he thinks a bunker is cool AF.

And all of that is ignoring the fact that anyone that dies in the initial blast is lucky. Full scale nuclear war isn’t something you’d want to live through

You know the complex will be a missile silo to shoot a giant Big Boy out or some other crazy shit like that.
