[go: up one dir, main page]

So I’m on my vacay, visiting several places in Asia. It’s chill to get away from work and actually leave my apartment as if I’m not a shut-in. I’m eating at a curry place and there are two fellow Americans behind me, two young guys. They’re talking about the recent ICE murders. They’re presenting like…I don’t know the word for this kind of modern men’s fashion. It’s when they’ve got skinny khakis, the pencil mustaches, slip on loafers without socks, and round glasses. Is there any even a word for this or are they just grad students

In any case it becomes clear that one of them is the liberal, the other is the conservative. The chud will say things like ICE needs more training and we can’t assume anything until a court case is settled, the liberal agrees and says ICE should receive more money for training. Liberal says things like agents should be trained to shoot in the legs, chud says some people can get shot in the leg and still resist arrest so it’s better to neutralize the target. Lib goes on to talk about the DHS Twitter account, “media diet,” and how government accounts are using Ai to edit photos. Chud retorts with how liberals have already done that a million times, references edited photos of Kyle Rittenhouse. They go on to talk about various streamers I’ve never heard of.

I just hate this. They talk about ice and government use of force like it’s a natural force like gravity and the important thing is to make sure you have the correct media information to formulate an opinion. Yeah I have a brain and can make a opinion based on my daily life and my experiences, I don’t need to hand wring about potential biases in whatever internet personalities I listen to (I don’t listen to any except maybe Vijay Prasad).

I actually did confront them at this point, said ICE simply shouldn’t exist, that ICE is performing their intended function, and blah blah. I talked to them maybe 30 seconds, got a response of “huh, hadn’t considered that” from the chud and then I left. I am becoming an old person shaking their cane at the youth? But like I never expected to be further to the left than people 15 years younger than me

Thank you for your attention to this matter as I resume my vacation hopefully free of further interactions like this

Not this stuff again. There is no such thing as just shooting someone in the leg or shooting to wound with live ammunition, the femoral artery and vein are right there, if a bullet hits that you’re dead within minutes from bleeding out. Not even mentioning the groin if the aim is slightly high. Guns are lethal weapons, that’s the end of it. They need to be treated as such.

Could even bleed out in seconds if the wound is large enough. The other issue is ricochets. Say you aim at someone’s shin. They’re running so the bullet misses. Now it’s bouncing off concrete and flying who the fuck knows where and hits some kid or (God willing) another ICE agent.

You never point a gun at something you aren’t willing to destroy and you are always aware of what’s behind your target. This is gun safety 101 and shitlibs don’t know shit about shit.

The liberal also mentioned things like tasers and pepper spray, and that’s actually the point where I had to confront him. None of that stuff is non-lethal and none of it is humane. You could taser someone with a heart condition, you can destroy someone’s eyes and lungs with pepper spray. How about we don’t negotiate the level of violence that the stormtroopers are allowed to inflict upon the population

Seems like you’re a wealthy American in the prime of life meeting other wealthy people abroad. Yeah, they’re going to skew conservative. You’re all wealthy people from the Nazi country having conversations about the extent to which you support the Nazis. Imagine how anyone around you who understands English must feel.

That style is a very weird mishmash of Western European/Mediterranean and like southern amerikkkan plantation owner and is very in vogue among certain sets of moneyed 20-30 somethings at present.

That said, from everything I’ve read about the political inclinations of Gen Z and Alpha, it seems like they’re the most ideologically incoherent generation of Americans yet, which I can only assume is a mostly vibes based ideology based on whatever media diet their meager attention spans will allow them to consume.

I’m also not trying to fan the flames of inter-generational conflict either; those younger people are just victims of an entirely different propaganda machine and media landscape than my generation and the generations before me. From actually interacting with that demo, it seems they’re largely pretty alright people who unfortunately have oatmeal brains thanks to modern tech, social media, and AI.

I don’t think it’s shaking your cane at the youth to yell at college students for being awful neolibs, since the issue isn’t that they’re young. You did a good thing imo.

      (the lib is barely sentient)

Yeah, even in these few out of context quotes you can see them just getting blown around in the wind of the chud’s actually existing opinions because they themselves stand for nothing.

Yeah I know, this was the first time in a long while that I encountered both a lib and a chud. Someone here once said Democrats view Republicans not as political rivals, but as their bosses. I could feel that in real time. The Lib was terrified of getting accused of hypocrisy, he’d backpedal away from making too strong of a statement. Just utter slime, the both of them

It’s when they’ve got skinny khakis, the pencil mustaches, slip on loafers without socks, and round glasses.

Pencil mustaches? Like they’re Walt Disney?
