I created a few communities here and want to switch to a new instance.
Is it possible to hand over ownership to my new account on a different instance?
What if my new instance would defederate my current instance?

You can make your new account a moderator, no matter what instance it鈥檚 on. As long as it can post.
If your new instance defederates, you鈥檒l still have your original account as a moderator.
Its possible but has some caveats. The main issue is probably that you can鈥檛 moderate posts and comments (and don鈥檛 even see them) from instances that your new home doesn鈥檛 federate with, but the community鈥檚 home instance does.
