Got a partial TFCC tear climbing like six months ago and recovery has been slow. Ortho doesn鈥檛 think it needs operating and PT likes progress, so I guess I鈥檓 inclined to agree.
Anyone here have personal experience? Things are mostly recovered but it鈥檚 been very, very slowly improving for a couple months now. Like barely. Is the tail end meant to take this long?
Edit: I鈥檓 in my late 20s
No experience here but you should post your age, if you are comfortable doing that. My experience is age makes a big difference to rate of recovery.
Tendons and the like are always slow to heal. As long as your PT likes the progress, I.guess you鈥檒l have to wait it out.
Edit: on the other hand, they don鈥檛 need to be fully healed to resume training, as long as you鈥檙e taking it slowly. You could ask your PT for (alternative) exercises you can already resume doing.
Yeah, I鈥檝e swapped out most exercises for wrist friendly ones. It鈥檚 just, I have to do a lot of decline ring push ups to make up for losing every bench press movement and I fuckin hate those. Sadly they鈥檙e the only chest workout we can figure that keep the wrists in a neutral grip.
Slowly, more exercises are returning, but the ones I want back most will be the last to come. This is easily the injury I regret most, I truly hope none of you ever get it.
Can鈥檉 you use dumbbells with a neutral grip instead of barbells? Stuff like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFbifMHOXPc
They allow for greater ROM and you can use a heavier one for your healthy wrist.
My thinking was it wasn鈥檛 enough weight. I鈥檒l watch the video soon and see though, if it works for that guy it should work for me
Right, relevance, posted this here cause it鈥檚 hugely affected my workout routine. All bench movements are out and I鈥檝e had to throw in calisthenics. Which is fine, but I鈥檇 kill for my wrist to fully recover
