And didn’t need a visa as a tourist, so less scrutiny.

scytale@piefed.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What would happen if the US president declares martial law (not statewide, but entire nation) overnight?English14·1 day agoLike all countries where this has happened before, it all depends on which side the military chooses. The outcome will be decided by a couple of generals.
scytale@piefed.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What blue collar job has the largest cool factor?English5·2 days agoNot to mention the things drifting around you in the darkness that you can’t see but can probably feel.
scytale@piefed.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Signal messages retrieved from iOS notification, as seen in Prairieland federal trialEnglish54·2 days agoI learned about this a couple of months ago and I’ve since disabled previews in notifications. It’s unfortunately the nature of how notifications are delivered to you. You should be fine by disabling message previews in your notification settings.
scytale@piefed.zipto World News@lemmy.world•Wireless festival cancelled after Kanye West banned from entering UKEnglish2·2 days agoI know, I was alluding to them making do with their current lineups and maybe upgrading some artists as the headlining acts if they can’t get replacements. I’m sure there are other popular artists on their lineup. I guess the presales went dry when news of the ban was announced.
scytale@piefed.zipto World News@lemmy.world•Wireless festival cancelled after Kanye West banned from entering UKEnglish7·2 days agoIs it really a “festival” if pulling one headlining act cancels the entire thing?
One of the strategies for playing snake in the classic nokia phones.
scytale@piefed.zipto Privacy@lemmy.world•What's the worst privacy compromise that you are willing to admit you make?English15·3 days agoUsing Bitwarden’s cloud service. I don’t trust myself enough to maintain and secure a self-hosted online password vault. Also like others said, google maps. The sheer volume of crowsourced data they have is very useful for real-time navigation especially if you live in a city with heavy traffic.
I remember this was a mating dance and he was trying to attract the other one in front of him. And IIRC, she turned him down. So yeah, poor guy lol.
I like how they have opposite personalities yet it somehow works. And yes, I know the show is about the main characters being polar opposites, but these two have a way bigger gap in personality IMO.
scytale@piefed.zipto 90s Music@lemmy.world•Yoko Kanno & SEATBELTS - TANK! Extended [Official Music Video] - [1998/2026?]English7·3 days agoI think it’s appropriate. Doesn’t matter if it was performed recently, the song was released in the '90s anyway.
Any chance you can do a lateral move within your current work? Might be easier, but you’ll probably have to accept a “demotion” if you have less experience than the people already there. On the other hand, you don’t “lose” your job and have to go through the entire process of quitting and applying. Having established connections and know-who’s within the org might also make it easier to pivot.
And how all the pieces are neatly arranged in one direction.
scytale@piefed.zipto LinkedinLunatics@sh.itjust.works•Gotta' spend money to make moneyEnglish312·4 days agoI use an LLM as a glorified search engine at work. Basically to search thousands of pages of documentation and tickets to get context before approving something. 2-3 prompts amounts to a dollar. Imagine doing that several times a day multiplied by thousands of employees (because everyone is mandated to use AI). And that’s a simple task, not even coding yet.
the more infectious and fatal strains spread to and killed off every susceptible human at a rate that could not support its propagation to new healthy humans
Plague Inc. has taught me how to be more effective and prevent this from happening.
scytale@piefed.zipto Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•What are the most reliable ev models on the market?English2·4 days agoThis is what’s frustrating in that car designers don’t understand most people don’t necessarily hate big screens, it’s putting essential controls in those screens. I’m a fan of big touchscreens myself but I want them to be strictly for infotainment purposes only. Any essential component should still be knobs, dials, and switches.
scytale@piefed.zipto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.ca•What hotels famously try to obfuscate whether its day or night to keep guests in a constant state of limbo or timelessness?English3·4 days agoI think any country with a building code that requires rooms to have windows would prevent hotels from doing that. Unless they leave the curtains closed before handing over the keys and hope the guest doesn’t open them. Lobbies are usually designed to be bright and have natural light. So yeah, it’s just casinos attached to hotels, not the hotels themselves.
scytale@piefed.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•For those of you with a living room or multiple rooms; do you have a TV in your bedroom? Why or why not?English1·4 days agoRight now, no. But I plan on upgrading to a bigger screen, so the current living room tv might be delegated to the bedroom, if I don’t end up selling it.
Yeah that was a weird sentence. You don’t need Siri to use navigation.
