Eldritch@piefed.worldto Political Memes@lemmy.world•We are where we are because Democrats fumbled an eminently winnable election, twiceEnglish2·3 hours agoHonestly I’m right there with you. Notice I’m not saying the Democrats are not to blame for any of this. They 100% are. But when Zionist and oligarch media start giving you attention you better double check your messaging. The focusing solely on Harris and not all candidates was an unforced error. That the media gleefully Amplified. The more of us that understand this the better things are going to be in the future.
And welcome to the club. It doesn’t matter who was here first all that matters is that people continue to join.🤜🤛
Eldritch@piefed.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Chinese researcher's death after questioning in US prompts anger in BeijingEnglish1·3 hours agoI technically agree with you but that’s not remotely the point. I’m against the death sentence in totality myself. I think even the petite bourgeoisie would be better handled by hard labor than death. And that the only acceptable time to kill is in actual self-defense. The death penalty for drug crimes is especially stupid. And so are unforced errors like not just sending them have to be another country’s problem and not yours.
When killing becomes an acceptable solution it also becomes the easy solution and the regular solution. Which should be the opposite of what a just Society goes for.
Eldritch@piefed.worldto Political Memes@lemmy.world•We are where we are because Democrats fumbled an eminently winnable election, twiceEnglish1·3 hours agoSure but why stop there. If things were perfect they’d be perfect! Not to mention I think the fact that third parties are not historically viable in national elections are why we’re here and not the solution. They absolutely should be but that’s not the world we live in unfortunately.
Call me utilitarian if you want. But I’m of the mind but if I had the means to take solid action to save a few. It’s more moral than taking a stance virtue signaling and saving none. That’s my praxis. For instance if you were in the region. Down in the Mediterranean and had a small boat that could hold 20 to 100 people. Would you go in and try to sneak out 20 to 100 people at a time saving who you could. Or would that be immoral because you couldn’t save everyone. What was the goal in focused campaigning against Harris, and
I don’t blame or begrudge people for feeling betrayed by Harris and the Democrats. But I genuinely wonder how many knew what the alternative actually was. Either way we need to start getting busy now. Not just for the midterms but positioning decent candidates for the 28 presidential as well. Otherwise the Overton Death March is only going to continue unabated. There are already positioning Harris and Newsom. Who are 100% horrible candidates that will still be better than anything Republicans are going to put forth. Call me misguided but I think Bernie Sanders was really cooking and we should follow his lead. DSA in my Democratic primary it could work out better than you think
Eldritch@piefed.worldto Political Memes@lemmy.world•We are where we are because Democrats fumbled an eminently winnable election, twiceEnglish41·4 hours agoAny candidate that had a chance of winning supported it unfortunately. It wasn’t optional. We’d much rather have to be dealing with Harris and her Zionist handlers over it than dimentia don flailing about though. Its a small distinction and no real comfort.
But the humor isn’t lost on me, that the people that did less than nothing to improve the situation, nor attempt to start the revolution. Still continue to pretend to be more moral than the people who understood what was happening and didn’t want things to get worse.

It came up in the new feed on the fediverse a lot recently. But I think it got regularly buried by the people who defend and glaze China constantly. Yes they were accused of drug crimes. The death penalty isn’t a deterrent. As long as the underpinning social problems exist, someone will always rush to refill the gap. Not to mention China’s courts are as corrupt and big a joke as any in the west. Rehabilitation would have been the correct answer. Barring that, China could have just stripped them of citizenship and denied them re-entry. Turning them over to Canada as Canada wanted.
Eldritch@piefed.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Chinese researcher's death after questioning in US prompts anger in BeijingEnglish3·5 hours agoThe road to hell is paved with good intentions. Those in the west unironically said the same things.
Sometimes what you don’t say is more important than what you do say. Many on the left were manipulated and used to boost the fascist. Something many to this day are still too sensitive about to acknowledge.
There wasn’t Mass coverage and protest that all major party candidates supported the genocide. Only Harris. In all the Zionist and oligarch media, every day it was wall to wall coverage of the people calling Harris out over it. It was legitimately used to launder Donald Trump’s image.
The fact that the vitriol and hatred that anyone who pointed this out got back then. And still gets today, proves that many failed to learn the important lesson. While they were absolutely correct to criticize Harris for her support. They were wrong to only focus on her over it. Even if symptoms like trump and everyone in his administration met the gallows tomorrow. These same people will continue to naively allow themselves to be weaponized against the achievable over the perfect. Ultimately getting more symptoms elected in the future, and allowing the Overton window to ratchet further and further to the right. National Democrats are horrible allies, they’re unfortunately the best we have.
Eldritch@piefed.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Chinese researcher's death after questioning in US prompts anger in BeijingEnglish285·8 hours agoChina just executed a number of Canadians. Don’t rely on large immovable hierarchies of power to deliver anything resembling justice.
Eldritch@piefed.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Vietnam elects Communist Party chief as president, echoing China's power structureEnglish74·2 days agoIts true. Though a bit hyperbolic for effect yes. Xi has used the party to eliminate other possible contenders and rivals. Making the “elections” less democratic and merit based than the flawed liberal democracy you’re ridiculing. I’d say it was ironic. But this is literally the sort of behavior people have come to expect from people who behave like you.
Xi and many in the party fall squarely in the definition of bourgeoisie. Your denial doesn’t count for anything.
And about the death penalty only being for bourgeoisie. That’s bullshit too. They simply reclassify anyone they want to kill as bourgeoisie or drug criminal, no harm no foul. Much like the corrupt western nations who’s example they’re following. And if some of these people that they’re killing are bourgeoisie but Xi Jinping is not. You’re using a very hypocritical definition.
Your criticisms of unsubstantiated nonsense would carry more weight if you weren’t projecting BTW. Not one of these large states or their mouthpieces are trustworthy. Not the US, not Canada, not Russia, not China, etc etc etc. Be consistent. If you’re only going to accept the word of China. You’ve no business criticizing anyone over unsubstantiated nonsense.
Eldritch@piefed.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Vietnam elects Communist Party chief as president, echoing China's power structureEnglish174·2 days agoWho do you think is the bourgeoisie in China and why do you think Xi, who has to win reelection every time and started as a farm boy in rural China is somehow an unanswerable dictator?
He’s president for life. He no longer faces election. The bourgeoisie can come from anywhere and any class. There is no background that makes you immune from becoming part of the bourgeoisie. But in the future I’ve got this handy trick you can use to identify bourgeoisie. I call it the “definition”.
Like you understand China regularly executes billionaires, strips companies of their power and wealth, including and especially all executives, nationalizes the resources of the rich on a VERY consistent basis, and has no function for rich people to influence government, right?
China regularly murders all those who cross the party. Bourgeoisie and proletariat alike. It’s not a virtue. That the party allows and supports the existence of such a petit bourgeoisie in any capacity is damning to anyone who isn’t a hypocrite campist. That you think the wealthy and powerful have no purchase or influence over themselves is cute though.
I don’t take the US government at it’s word. And I’m not such a gullible fool to take China’s at theirs like some people either. My family suffered genocide at the hands of the US, Canada, and the Soviet Union. I’ve met people who themselves or their family been targeted by chinas government for oppression. If you want to dismiss every non Chinese government source, that’s willfully ignorant, but consistent. Just like the liberals so many that glaze China claim hate while behaving so similar.
Only a complete ninnyhammer would blame the CIA for every criticism of China’s government.
Eldritch@piefed.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Vietnam elects Communist Party chief as president, echoing China's power structureEnglish228·2 days agoIt’s not a flaw of liberal democracy. Its a flaw of unanswerable heirachies of power. You know, the sort of thing the parties and Xi are speed running. There have been decent leaders under liberal democracy. But power in the form of bourgeoisie money always interferes. Just as the power of the bourgeoisie in China in the form of the party and those in power interferes.
Eldritch@piefed.worldto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL Antarctica has its own accent.English8·3 days agoEeeh videos have their time and place. Generally it’s easier for me to pull up an article and get the gist in 30 seconds than sit watching a 5 to 10 minute video to get the same. And out in public. People playing loud shit on their phone generally annoys me, and I’m not a hypocrite.
When I’m home, its videos all evening. I think it’s more about expectation and disappointment. Videos in video communities are bread and butter. Videos in communities that are largely articles are jarring and abrasive.

It’s truly depressing to see so many pretend loudly to care about what’s going on in Palestine, Lebanon and Iran right now. Because the West. All the while dismissing defending or denying China’s mistreatment of minority groups in Hong Kong Tibet and xinjiang. Because it’s their pet state or they are committed to glazing it right or wrong.
