  • It’s bananas to me that “people don’t have to work overtime at McDonald’s anymore” is evidence of policy failure. Spokane is not sending it’s best:

The study finds that while the higher wage has drawn more job applicants to fast-food restaurants, businesses have responded by slashing shifts, reducing available hours, and limiting hiring. One McDonald’s owner reported an 11.5% drop in hours worked, equivalent to losing about 62 full-time positions. Restaurants raised menu prices by 8-12%, accelerated automation with self-order kiosks, and cut overtime, leaving many workers with fewer opportunities and even jeopardizing benefit eligibility. National Bureau of Economic Research papers echo this, showing roughly a 3% employment drop and up to 18,000 jobs lost statewide.

  • Splitting the MLS academies out from USLC and into MLSNP has been an improvement to the US pyramid, so my intuition is to keep the academy sides out of the pyramid as well:

Keehlan Panayiotou, assistant coach at the third-tier club Gwalia United, and formerly a coach at Bristol City’s girls academy, wrote: “The worst idea in FAWNL is rehashed, repackaged and tried again. No B Teams in the Pyramid. Use the loan and dual registration system which isn’t being effectively used enough. U21s in the pyramid won’t provide that First Team environment that Tier 3 and 4 sides will.”

  • By “Germans” I mean “the early Germanic peoples who occupied the region that became Germany” and “Russians” I mean “the early Slavic peoples who occupied the region that became Ukraine”. I kinda just assumed folks would understand the modern federal German state didn’t exist when early Slavs first encountered other ethnic groups and could work backwards from there.
