I have said this a lot but it is crazy how good this demo is by itself. I first played this several years ago when I was a whole different person, and I'd never heard of an 'Our Life' game before.
Every few months I would pick it up again, and eventually I played the first game and I love it a lot, but I especially love this one because of how many more options there are. I'd be thinking something like, "I wish I could say this," flip to the next page of choices, and hey, guess what, I can?!
There's also something it captures about just. everything. I think all the description of everyone's small quirks is amazing and it makes it feel really real. Everyone reminds me of someone I've known. I also think the art brings it together so well, I love Opal's questioning eyebrow raise expression.
Not only that, it's the fact that everyone is so accepting. I didn't like to talk irl, so I was overjoyed that there are non-verbal dialogue options for everything. And nobody judged, in fact, they acknowledged it and made sure to accomodate to it. Which helped me realise that in real life, maybe nobody is judging as hard as I think they are.
