Even though I think it's fun crocheting hexagons for the "en bestemor om dagen" cal, I needed some fast crochet too. So I've started on three (!) blankets - one for each kid. The pattern is Circles to squares afghan (rav link). This is a fun and fast project :)

The Lady and the Unicorn
My review
rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is a beautiful, beautiful book!
The Lady and the Unicorn is a historical novel, set in 15th century France. As Jean Le Viste commissions painter Nicholas des Innocents (who is anything but innocent) to design six tapestries with battle scenes, Jean's wife ask Nicholas to make something else. So he suggest scenes of a lady seducing a unicorn.
Each chapter is told by different people who takes part in making these tapestries. From Nicholas to the lassier who weaves, to girls who get sedused by Nicholas. He loves telling the ladies about the (his) unicorn horn and how if the horn is dipped into a poisoned well it becomes pure again...
It's a great book of love that cannot be, corruption and sex. We also get to know how these tapestries are made, from treading the loom to coloring the yarn - but in a interesting way.

Purple target
My purple target socks are done :) And I'm so pleased with them! When I went through my stash of sock yarn, I found two balls of grey, but they were two different brands. They have almost the same shade of grey and I guess I'm the only one who can see it ;)
Pattern: Target practice socks.
Yarn: 50 g grey Sisu and 50 g grey Silja + some purple leftovers of Novita Nalle from my Baktus scarf.
Needles: 2,5 mm.

The history of love

"Once upon a time there was a boy who loved a girl, and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering."
After seeing this book a lot around, I desided that I had to read it. At first I struggeled a bit to get into the story, but I'm glad I continued reading. Because the book is beautiful, filled with love, hope and loss.
The main story is about Leo Gursky. He's an author, but has never published a book. Before ww2 he lived in Poland, and fell in Love with Alma. Leo wrote a book about her, but it got lost. Her parents sent her to usa to get her away from the war, and she promised to wait for Leo. After five years Leo has finally made to get to usa, just to find Alma married to another man. She thought he had died. But there is one proof of their love - a son.
We alos get to know Alma, a 14 years old girl. Her parents named her after Alma, the main character in the book "The history of love" - Leo's book. It's been published, but by who? As alma's mother get's a letter asking her to translate this book from spanish, Alma get's drawn into a search for Alma in the book, which she belives is a real person.

Heksen
My review

Target socks
My target socks have been laying around for a couple of days just waiting for me to sew in the ends... It's weird that the easy and fast part is the hardest part to get done..
Anyway, these socks was a very fun knit! And I really want to knit up some more pairs :) I like to have similar stripes on my socks, and I thought I'd managed it on this pair too. But when I got to the toe on the second sock, the yarn knit up three of the orange stripes. (as you can see on the sock to the left)
And taking photos of one self is not easy ;) With no one to help me, this was the best shot from the back of my legs I managed to get...

This year we took a little untraditional celebrating of

Mallards
This morning we had these two outside our window when we had breakfast.
A mallard couple.

Here is the ice a couple of days ago. Now it's all gone and we're
waiting for the swans to come too.

And when one is outside one can hear it cluck and run in lots of
streams. It's a lot of grouse in the forest this year, and we can hear them coo.

Target
Since the temperature is rising, I need some more cotton socks. So I'm knitting Target :) It's a fun knit and I'm knitting them cuff down instead of toe up.

En bestemor om dagen
Or an granny a day. Frk.Badegakk came up with a norwegian twist of this cal. We can make one a day, so there will be seven new squares each week. This is my first week and I managed to crochet six. I'm making hexagons. Hopefully there will be a blanket in the end :) I'll post the progress each Sunday. I love the colors, but I think I'll use some other colors as well.
The lean-to has become a little cabin
We've spent this Sunday up in the forest and fixed our lean-to.
We (hubby) have made walls in the front and a door. So now we
can leave things like a primus, first aid kit and other small things
in it since we can lock it.
I guess we can call our lean-to a little cabin now ;)
And I know the color is awful (we're going to paint it!),
it's become much more cosy and the snow will not blow in during winter.
While we had sausages for dinner.

Tings that have made me happy the past days
I've casted on for a dragon jacket for Endre.
And I love the green and orange together!
And I love the green and orange together!
Waiting for the seeds to sprout.
Endre loves his Mickey Mouse, and he has been with him
outside, in the mud, so he needed a wash.
Watching him hanging there on the clothesline
made me giggle every time I went by. Endre on the
other hand was sick worrying he would fly away with the wind ;)

Spring is here
There's no doubt, the spring is here for real. With sun, degrees over
+10 C and coltsfoots along the edges of the roads!

And the bird cherry is full of buds waiting for more heat.
With the help of the sun and the wind the snow has melted fast the last days.
So Erlend and Eirin have been exploring the meadow and the bog.

A flock of birds have been on the meadow as well.
I'm not very good with birds, so I have no idea what species this is..
