This case-control study examines the role of the upper airway microbiota in community-acquired pneumonia among non-hospitalized adults. We analyzed nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal samples from 107 pneumonia patients and 211 matched controls in a rural Dutch cohort using 16S rRNA gene sequencing.
