On macOS, when I log in to websites using passkeys:
-
Safari, Chrome and even other browsers like Brave let me use Touch ID via the Apple Passwords system.
-
Opera, however, prompts me to scan a QR code instead of using Touch ID. This is very inconvenient.
-
I have even tried using iCloud Passwords extension but still no luck with using touch ID for passkey in opera.
This suggests Opera isn't integrating with macOS’s native passkey and Touch ID system. How can I enable Touch ID support in Opera for passkey authentication like in other browsers?
What I’ve already tried:
-
Ensured that passkeys are stored in iCloud Keychain.
-
Confirmed that Touch ID works with Chrome and Safari for passkey logins.
-
Checked Opera’s settings and flags for WebAuthn or passkey-related options but didn’t find anything obvious.
