WIP: DEATH GUARD BATCH PAINTING

WIP: DEATH GUARD BATCH PAINTING

So last post saw the completion of the 2nd Death Guard marine. At the rate that they are being painted it is going to be a long time before I see 2 fully painted squads, for my army. So to speed things up I have looked at how I can do some batch painting.
As the base armour is all green I have started with that along with the ink washing and highlighting.
Will also tackle all the metals before then working on each model as an individual.

How do you do your batch painting?

Gallery: Death Guard

Gallery: Death Guard

Last night I completed my second Death Guard model. Also my light box finally arrived so was testing out how it worked. Not the best photo at the moment but will be working on getting better pics soon.

I am away in Essen next week so will be taking the rest of this squad away with me to work on at the hotel, hopefully when back will get a chance to post up the first completed unit shots.

Galley: Death Guard Test Model

Galley: Death Guard Test Model

Not sure I have ever put so much work into one base, I love the detail that GW have put on the bases and I think it deserved so much more that just a base wash and dry brush.

After the break check out the model that sits on top.

WIP Death Guard Marine First Run

WIP Death Guard Marine First Run

Started work on my first test marine. I know that I had listed with Mouldering Claw and looking in the codex it looked like it was a black armour. However looking in the supplement from the Dark Imperium box it is a darker green, I toyed around with some dark greens and they just looked a bit to Dark Angels in colour.

So I have gone with a series of thinned down almost washes using Death Guard Green and then Ogryn Green some shades.

It is coming together well, and I hope to have a galley shot tomorrow.
Currently wracking my brain on the basing.

WIP: The Mouldering Claw

WIP: The Mouldering Claw

So last night I started pulling my models together for the army to see what I have and what I need to buy. Some of the models in my list have not yet been released yet so I really have to crack on with what I can get my hands on. Having a really tight timeline I have drawn up a painting chart so I can track my progress.

Cannot get the image linked into the document but if you click on the link above you can see the sheet.

Pay day this week and hopefully GW put the models I need up for Pre-Order so that I can get the remaining models.

How do you plan out your painting projects?

Army List: The Mouldering Claw

Army List: The Mouldering Claw

Morning fellow  Bloggers and Blog readers, todays post will be taking you through my 120 points power rating Death Guard army list, I am hoping that I am going to be able to attend the Throne of Skulls at the end of November.

The new format is all about sporting behaviour and themed armies rather than win at all costs. I love the idea and the sentiment behind that, however I am under no illusion that with the points still being more heavily in favour of the points of the win, there will still be the players that want to turn up an have the power WAAC armies.

So with 120 points that can be spread over 3 detachments I sat down with the new Death Guard codex some pen, paper and a cup of tea.

WIP: Death Guard Noxious Blightbringer

WIP: Death Guard Noxious Blightbringer

Oops yet another model started.
I do finish them I promise, I am going with a very dark gloomy feel to my Death Guard. Started work on the metal before I get to the armour. The first few layers have been done ending up with a verdigris, next up some more wash layers before hitting the metal again.

In the post this week is a small light box, so hopefully some gallery shots in the near future.
