Stuff This Week #95
Last week was focused on trying (and mostly failing) to beat the heat as we struggled with this European heatwave. 🥵

Another week another blur of activity as I sit to write this with a pint of fizzy water with a dash of lime whilst my house is currently 24c and due to get to 28c today. Mini heatwave! I haven’t really taken and photos this week, so here’s a Trio in the garden!
Another Friday, another Every 100th! 👏👏👏
Only three shots this week, but they’re three that I really, really love. I hope you do too. 😊

Onto the pics!
We’re in the middle of June already! Wow! Where did the time go!? A busy tech week with Not-E3 and Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference meaning there’s been a lot of news and videos to catch up on!
It’s still Friday in the UK and I promised to be consistent with the posting of these, so instead of playing Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade I’m writing this because I’m keeping to my promise damnit!
So here’s the photos I’ve thought are rad this week. You can read more about this series here.
it’s a bit of a Pixelfed special this week. I didn’t mean it to be, but hey here we are!
A day late and a dollar short but here we are. My week off work has come to an end and I was thrown back into the working maw once again. Ah well I had a good run. It was an enjoyable and productive week even if I didn’t have the weather.
🚨 Warning. This is going to be a slightly more grumpy post from me than you usually get.
Told ya I’d stick to it 🫡 Here’s another little list of photos found via Mastodon this week that have sparked joy or a creative influence within me.

Anyway, onto this weeks photos! Just 3 this week. I did manage to check in on the #photography timeline quite a bit being on holiday this week, but what can I say, it’s quality not quantity! 🤷
As mentioned in my stuff this week as I’m on annual leave I’m doing the lions share of the family Cooking this week. Yesterday I made this BBC Goodfood Masala Chana Chaat by Chetna Makan.
This was delicious and we’ll absolutely be making it again. Easy and quick for a family weekday meal but full of different textures, great spices and just enough heat in the chutney with two green chillies blended into The herb mix. Veggie too!
We served it with elephant atta chapattis. 😋
I’m a fan of the Waitrose Dish podcast and love the quick fire questions bit that they ask guests on the show.
This is an example 👇
Seeing as my invite appears perpetually lost in the mail I’ve decided to instead take some of the questions they ask 1 and answer them here as a bit of fun, because why not! 🤷
If you do the same, post it and let me know!
Ok, here goes….
I really enjoyed this Becca Farsace video and what it has to say about creativity and constraints. I have absolutely zero interest in a £1599 black and white camera but I really enjoyed the video and loved the part on photo challenges.
I especially love some of the challenge ideas mentioned as well. Two that I really want to explore are these two.
Pick a colour and only shoot pictures including that colour
Take photos in one location for a set amount of time
Also makes me want to do a B&W only day. Do you have any ideas for challenges? Let me know!
He’s back from his adventures! 🛬
After nearly 6 months away, Elliot has returned to the UK with many stories and photos from his adventure to tell. As well as bringing me my konbini socks 🤣
We kept this secret so I didn’t mention it on my blog. His girlfriend and he were travelling home to be there for his girlfriend’s father’s birthday and we didn’t want to spoil the surprise.
We’re back baby! After a bit of a hiatus I’m very pleased to say that I have a fresh E1HOAS hot out of the oven for you. Better late than never, here’s the shots that have made me 👀 this time.
I will attempt to keep it on track this time! 🤞 I really do enjoy hunting through the photography hashtags on Mastodon to pick out some gems that caught my eye.

Heatwave! ☀️ We’re enjoying some wonderful weather this week and it’s fantastic to get out into it! Bank holiday weekend as well so Monday off 🥳
I had some errands to run on Friday 1, and with the weather being so beautiful, I just couldn’t resist detouring to Weymouth Beach to walk along the seafront for half an hour. In classing British style, I’m sure we’ll all be moaning that it’s too hot in a few weeks, but it felt incredibly good to get out into the sunshine and have a good walk.
Travel day 😢 Holiday over already! We’ve got a flight at 12:30 to make! So let’s get ready!
We’d done most of our packing the previous night, so all we had to do was give the property a good clean and tidy, double check we’d packed everything, have some breakfast and say our goodbyes 👋
I skipped a week last week as I just didn’t that much to say. Some weeks you’re just riding the wave of boring adult life and there’s just not that much to share 🤷I’d rather skip a week than just write something without much to it.
Our final full day already! 🥲
This has been such a special holiday. We’ve been to more urban Scotland before (Edinburgh), Dundee, Aberdeen (For work) but this Cairngorms trip is the first real time I feel like I’ve experienced rural Scotland on my own terms and it’s been a delight. It’s reminded me just how much I love walking as well.
After some breakfast and packing lunch we set off for another walk. I was excited for the scenery potential on this one!
Today we went to local National Trust property Portland House. A 1930’s Art Deco “Hollywood Spanish” design. Commissioned by a Geoffrey Henry Bushby tragically he died only a few months after it was completed. His wife and daughter contemplated selling it but ended up staying their whole lives, with the daughter donating it to the National Trust in the 70’s under the proviso that she could live there as a Tennant until her death.
Since then, the National Trust has spent nearly £500,000 bringing the site up to scratch and rents it out as a holiday. It is eye wateringly expensive averaging around £3000 for 3 nights off season up to nearly £5000 for 3 nights in the height of summer 😳 However! Two times a year for a few days National Trust members like me get to enter and explore for free (Or non members can pay a small fee).
Myself and my wife were off today and after looking in antique shops for wardrobes and other items 🦆, we’d planned to explore this site and grab some lunch in Weymouth as well.
Today was mostly about the Balmoral Cairn walk. Essentially, we’re off to see some posh royal pyramids. In the same area, we planned to try a Scottish delicacy, a buttery. A high-fat bread similar to a croissant. 😋
