Stuff This Week #69

  • Spooky season ✔️

  • Christmas Season ⏭️

Yes, it’ll soon now be Christmas before we know it. Planning and strategies have started. We now know what we’re doing as well. Christmas at ours and my wife’s parents coming over to ours. With my wife changing jobs, this’ll be the first Christmas in a few years where she hasn’t had to work Christmas Day or Boxing Day, so I’m quite looking forwards to that 😊

Daily Drivers : ComplyFoam AirPod Pro Ear Tips

When the AirPod Pro 3’s were released it was interesting to note that they now come with what Apple are calling “Foam infused ear tips”. Whilst I’m still perfectly happy with my AirPod Pro 2’s and plan to ride ‘em ‘till they die, it did get me interested in trying out some of the third party foam tips that are out there. Especially after hearing podcaster and tech dude Will Smith talk about them on an episode of the Tech Pod.

After doing a bit of research and wanting to get an example from a reputable brand vs the 100’s of faux temu style versions on Amazon I decided on getting a 3 pack of medium sized ComplyFoam Memory Foam ear tips.

Memory foam is supposed to be more secure, more comfortable and assist with the noise cancellation. But is it true?

Stuff This Week #68

A wonderful week off work with the family, spending some lovely time together doing some interesting stuff in some varied weather ☀️☔️🌬️

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 From cooking interesting dishes 🍝 to visiting interesting places we’ve had a fun filled week.

🏋️ Still managed to go to the gym 4 times this week. Not quite the every day I set out to do, but I’m proud enough of it. I finally got around to trying the rowing machines out and I love them.  Absolutely something I can see myself getting more into. 🚣

Day Trip : Russell-Coats House House & Gallery

As part of my wife’s week long 1 birthday celebrations whilst we’re off together with the kids 2 during half term we had arranged to go the Russell-Coats house, a Victorian aged house and museum. Despite us living down here together for 13+ years we’d never actually got around to visiting this beautiful house, art gallery and museum all in one.

Hoteliers and art lovers, they gathered this collection of art not only from the UK,  but from across the world 3.

For Diwali some staff in the hospital put on a celebration in the canteen detailing what the festival of lights represents. As part of this you could also get a henna design on your hand. My wife was working and popped in to experience this.

it’s a beautiful design. I’m so happy to see the many different people that work in the NHS and the UK representing and expressing their beliefs.

In a country that can feel like it’s going backwards when it comes to appreciation and respect of different people of all types, it’s wonderful to see a celebration and sharing of culture like this taking place. 💜

Stuff This Week #66

What I’d call a peaceful and controlled week overall. We have some heavy rain forecast today that’s just kicked in and the beauty of autumn is in full gear now.

I love walking around at this time of year. A little bit cold, a little bit wild but with the beautiful tones of the changing leaves giving us a last burst of beauty before the more dreary winter months and early sunsets kick in.

After much messing around with deliveries (Thanks DPD 👎) it’s finally arrived!

That’s tonight blocked out for building! 🧱😊

Woke up at 5:50 to go do 30 minutes on the workout bike at the gym before my 7am work start. 🚴💪

Then enjoyed a shower and some breakfast before sitting down for work!

Indulged in making one of my favourite lunches today. Peanut butter noodles.

Bit of peanut butter. Soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, sesame seed oil and hot water whisked together. Put some peanut chilli oil crunch and spring onions on top.

Perfection! 🍜

Daily Drivers : Nedrelow Magic Sleeve for iPad

Daily Drivers is a series I’ve thought about writing where I introduce some of my most used and loved gadgets, accessories and useful gizmos. Here’s the first in this series.

Sometimes, you’ll see an item and just immediately see how useful it’d be to own. I felt that way a few years ago as soon as I saw the Nedrelow Magic Sleeve system talked about online.

It’s such a simple but clever idea. Just a well made Marino wool felt case, BUT with the addition of magnets all around the edge under the material to seal the case. This allows it to open and close easily with no rough edges from zips on show.

Made by Scott Nedrelow in Los Angeles, it’s a small business that uses sustainable ethically sourced materials. These products are understated, elegant and using premium materials that feel fabulous to touch.

I bought this particular case in July 2021 and it’s still going strong 4 years later.

I think Ghost of Yōtei might very well be the prettiest game I’ve ever played. It’s got some styyyyle as well.
