From Bobby Nash: All Pulp Contributor:

I have been a proud member of the All Pulp family, not to mention one of the Spectacled Seven that got this thing started) since the site began way back when. I have had a lot of fun working with the All Pulp gang and have made some new friends and discovered many new books to read and movies to watch. All Pulp joining Comicmix will open the site up to a wider audience and I'm excited to see where things go from here.

That said, however, I will not be moving on with All Pulp. With my writing schedule packed full and deadlines looming, I felt that this would be a good time for me to take a step back and focus my efforts on writing, as I'm sure my publishers will appreciate. Who can say what the future will bring, but I plan to stop by the new All Pulp site regularly to check up on the latest pulp news.

I'll see you there.

THERE'S A SPIDER ON MY BED!

My copies of the Moonstone Books' recently released new pulp anthology called The Spider: Extreme Prejudice arrived today and the books look great. This one includes a story by me called “Fear The Dark.” It is still a thrill to receive those first copies of a new book. I love it.

About The Spider: Extreme Prejudice:
New short stories of searing white-hot prose starring pulpdom's most violent and ruthless crime fighter ever: THE SPIDER! More just than the law, more dangerous than the Underworld...hated, feared and wanted by both! One cloaked, fanged, borderline crazy denizen of the dark force-feeding hard justice with a pair of 45's! Guest stars: The Black bat, The Green Ghost, and Operator 5!

The Spider: Extreme Prejudice features stories by Will Murray, Mel Odom, C.J. Henderson, James Chambers, Ron Fortier, Bobby Nash, Howard Hopkins, Eric Fein, Gary Phillips, Don Roff, Matthew Baugh, I.A. Watson, and Rik Hoskin. Cover art by Malcolm McClinton.

About “Fear The Dark” by Bobby Nash:
Marianne Nelson is afraid of the dark. Every time she closes her eyes she sees monstrous visions of herself and a strange woman being chased by a menacing creature with disturbing features and fangs. She chalks it all up to bad dreams until she meets the woman from her vision, Nita Van Sloan and her friend, Richard Wentworth. How does The Spider figure in to her visions?

You can learn more about The Spider: Extreme Prejudice here.

The Spider: Extreme Prejudice is available in paperback and hardback at the following:

Moonstone Direct (hardcover)
Amazon (paperback)
Barnes and Noble (paperback)

I have a small amount on hand (5) and will have them at conventions and appearances. You can also purchase an autographed copy of the paperback directly through me here as well.

About The Spider:
More just than the law, more dangerous than the Underworld... hated, feared, wanted by both. Extreme sworn enemy of crime, The SPIDER clashes against super-criminals whom no one else can handle. PULP ARK AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

It is rare to find me at a loss for words, but that’s exactly what happened after the list of winners of the 2013 Pulp Ark Awards was posted at All Pulp earlier tonight. It took a while for the news to sink in, and even now I don’t think it’s really hit me. After years as a working writer I can now add the title “Award Winning” before my name, which is pretty darn cool, let me tell you.

The full list of winners is below, including several talented friends and creators, all of whom deserve a hearty congratulations and I plan to do just that, but I want to highlight the three related to me because I still can’t quite believe it.

Cover Art: Douglas Klauba (L), Ruben Procopio (R)
Best Collection/Anthology-
The Green Hornet: Still at Large by Various published by Moonstone Books

It was a thrill to write the Green Hornet and Kato in the Green Hornet Casefiles anthology for Moonstone Books. It was certainly a dream come true to take established and well-loved characters like Green Hornet and Kato and tell a tale with them, but it was also a bit nerve-wracking. I was terrified of screwing up the characters. That made it an even bigger thrill to be invited back for a second story in Green Hornet: Still at Large. Was it less nerve-wracking? Sure. A bit. It was also one of those most fun stories I’ve written, I think. I certainly felt more relaxed the second time around. Special thanks to Joe Gentile and Win Scott Eckert for inviting me to join the fun.

This book contains 17 wonderful tales and is still available. You can find links for The Green Hornet: Still at Large in the Short Stories/Novellas tab above.

Cover Art: Mark Wheatley
Best New Pulp Character-
Rick Ruby created by Bobby Nash and Sean Taylor as features in The Ruby Files Volume 1 Published by Airship 27 Productions

Rick Ruby came out of the gate swinging. Created by Sean Taylor and myself The Ruby Files surprised me when it was nominated for multiple categories in both the Pulp Ark and Pulp Factory Awards this year. Sean had predicted the nomination during the creative process and once again he knew what he was talking about. That last sentence will haunt me until the end of time as I’m sure he won’t let me forget it.

The creative power behind The Ruby Files Vol. 1 anthology from Airship 27 was certainly tough to beat and I would like to take a moment to thank Andrew Salmon, William Patrick Maynard, Rob Moran, Mark Wheatley, Rob Davis, John Bruening, Ron Fortier, and Sean Taylor. The hard work of all of the fine folks involved helped down on his luck private eye, Rick Ruby stand out from the pack.

There’s still time to get in on the action. The Ruby Files Vol. 1 is still available. You can find links for The Ruby Files Vol. 1 in the Short Stories/Novellas tab above and at the Official Rick Ruby website here. I’m also happy to announce that The Ruby Files Vol. 2 is currently in production.

Best Author: Bobby Nash (Yeah. He can't believe it either)
Best Author-
Bobby Nash

This was the one that really floored me. I knew I had been nominated, but quite frankly I never expected to win this one. I mean, there were a lot of incredibly talented creators nominated. When I read through the list of winners and saw my name listed here all I could hear was the cartoon-ish sound effect of my jaw hitting the floor like it was made out of lead.

I really don’t know what to say except Thank You to everyone who voted for me. Thank you to everyone who has read one (or more) of my stories. Thank you to the fantastic people I’ve gotten to meet as a result of the books I’ve been privileged to work on. Thank you to the publishers and editors who have hired me and helped me to (hopefully) become a better writer. I’m sure I’ll be able to string together better words once the shock wears off, if it ever will. And finally, thank you for reading through my frantic musings here. My brain is bouncing from one thought to another faster than I can keep up. Might be time to lay off the Mt. Dew for the night, I guess.

The Pulp Ark Awards will be handed out at the Pulp Ark Convention in Springdale Arkansas on the evening of Saturday, April 27, 2013. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the entire weekend, but I am planning to be there on Saturday during the day and into the evening.

Thanks again and congratulations to all the winners.

Bobby
