WINNER OF 3 PULP FACTORY AWARDS!

Over the weekend, my family took a long overdue road trip together. It's been 7 months since my mother passed away and my dad needed to get out for a bit. I think we all did. The Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention was this weekend, and since I was nominated for a couple of awards, we packed up the vehicle, put Georgia in our rear view, and headed toward Chicago. The plan was to not get in a hurry, which we didn't, make several stops, which we really didn't do either, except for a quick stop at McKay's in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I love that store and can't pass through without visiting. We traveled through Tennessee, Kentucky, and into Illinois on Thursday, arriving very early Friday morning.

Not only is The Ruby Files Vol. 3 of the anthology series in production, but there is an all-new The Ruby Files novel in the works as well. Sean Taylor and I have signed off on the plot and the writer is excited to dive in and get started.

Airship 27 Productions' Ron Fortier shared the following statement on social media:
If you are a Rick Ruby fan and enjoyed our first two anthologies, then you are in for a treat. There is a full length Rick Ruby novel now in the works by one of our Airship 27 writers. Can't say much more right now, don't want to give it all away just yet, but it has been officially sanctioned by creators Bobby Nash and Sean Taylor.

One of the most popular New Pulp characters is back!  Rick Ruby, noir PI extraordinaire, returns in a  second volume of stories from some of the best authors in New Pulp.  The first volume was one of the most popular and critically recognized books in 2012 and has remained a perennial favorite.  Now Rick is back and the stories are better than ever.In this show I interview Ron Fortier, Bobby Nash, Sean Taylor, and Alan Porter about their contributions to this new volume.   We delve into the origins of the character and the inspiration that each of the authors had for their stories. 

UNFORTUNATELY, a thunderstorm landed on us towards the end of the program and the last 10 minutes of the interview was lost.  But there is so much good stuff here(including a few tangents) that I don't think the fans will mind. There are also lotsa great xtras and links that feature the work of thee fine authors so check 'em out.

Artist Nik Poliwko shared a work in progress pic on an illustration for my story, "Takedown" appearing in Airship 27's "Ruby Files, Volume II" noir detective anthology, coming soon...

I am loving Nik's illustrations for volume 2 of The Ruby Files. I have seen the finished version of the image in process above and it is absolutely gorgeous. I'm looking forward to getting this one out there to the readers. We think it will prove well worth the wait.

Creating Rick Ruby and his world with Sean was a lot of fun. We wrote a pretty lengthy essay about it that appears in The Ruby Files Vol. 1. I remember we were sitting in a crowded restaurant talking about all things Rick Ruby while the people at nearby tables were pretending not to eavesdrop. It was a fun evening.

Collaborating with other writers can be fun. Michael Gordon and I collaborated on the Strong Will graphic novel that will be available next year and Stuart Jaffe and I are in the early stages of creating a comic book project together now. More on that when I can share it.
