Santa Claus has left his grotto in Finnish Lapland and is heading round the world to distribute presents to deserving children.
Yle’s news team have been in Korvatunturi, Lapland, to cover the main event of Christmas week: Father Christmas departing for his delivery rounds.
Sources close to Santa Claus tell Yle that his sack includes plenty of high-tech toys for well-behaved children, but nothing for naughty kids. His spies have been out in force as usual, keeping tabs on who deserves a gift and who should try a little harder to spread good cheer in the coming months.
President Alexander Stubb said that Finland has "the biggest military force of Arctic capabilities" in Nato. Regarding Greenland, he expressed confidence that "we’ll find an off-ramp".
The country has around 50,500 civil defence shelters that could accommodate about 4.8 million people, according to the interior ministry.
The survey results also reflect data from a survey of foreign language speakers in the country.
