German Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet with President Sauli Niinistö and Prime Minister Alexander Stubb in Helsinki on March 30.

"This is the first time that Germany's Chancellor has made an official visit to Finland since 2006," says Stubb, who extended the invitation to Merkel.

The purpose of the visit is to discuss the Russian situation and European politics.

The visit will take place less than three weeks before Finnish parliamentary elections.
