Timo Soini mobile game becomes a surprise hit

A mobile game called “Happy Flappy Soini” based around the Finns Party leader has rocketed to popularity: on Friday afternoon, it was the second most uploaded free iPhone app in Finland. Soini issued an approving official statement on the game, which is reminiscent of an earlier mobile hit called "Flappy Bird".

The mobile game featuring the Finns Party Chair Timo Soini overtook messaging apps such as WhatsApp Messenger and Facebook Messenger, as well as Instagram, on Friday afternoon when it became the second most uploaded free iPhone app in Finland. That's according to App Annie Store statistics.

In the Happy Flappy Soini app, Soini’s face is steered by clicking on the screen, in an attempt to avoid hitting Finnish parliament pillars.

As the game became all the rage in Finland, the Finns Party leader released an official statement on Friday.

“I like games. The popularity of the game is a great honour and source of joy for me,” Soini says in his statement. “The game-playing youth understands good humour,” Soini continued.

“Let Happy Flappy Soini flourish,” the veteran politician said.

Soini noted that he had no claims when it came to the game.

“If the game yields some economic profit at some point, I hope that the money is used for youth work,” Soini concludes his statement.

According to the daily newspaper Helsingin Sanomat, Happy Flappy Soini has been developed by Antti Lindell from Helsinki. The game is reminiscent of _Flappy Bird, _a popular earlier game.
