Hannu Kailajärvi, who has been in police custody since being detained in Sweden in December, told investigators that the scam paid investors with money from subsequent investors, and not from profit.

So far some 1,300 criminal complaints have been filed against WinCapita. Around 10,000 people invested in the Ponzi scheme, with damages close to 18 million euros. About 16 million euros have been siezed.
