Opposition ranks were united over the closure of a private rheumatism hospital in the southern town of Heinola.

Minister of Health and Social Services, Paula Risikko told parliament on Wednesday the government cannot be held responsible for the demise of the hospital.

Responding to opposition demands she said it could not be saved with state funds.

Christian Democratic Party Chair Päivi Räsänen had led the opposition assault on the issue. She claimed the Minister had ignored earlier cries for help to be given to the Heinola hospital.
