Parliament returns after summer recess

The Finnish parliament started its new autumn session on Tuesday following the summer recess. The country’s 200 MPs convened at 2pm.

Among the items on the parliament agenda are new legislation on toy safety and debate on Finland’s accession to the Ottawa Convention outlawing anti-personnel mines.

Two Left Alliance MPs, Markus Mustajärvi and Jyrki Yrttiaho, who left the party’s parliamentary grouping in protest over its participation in the six-party coalition, may also decide to officially form their own backbench group.
