This summer, hornets have been more abundant than usual, according to the Natural Resources Institute (Luke).
The hornet is a large species of wasp.
The increase is linked to warmer and longer summers, according to Luke senior scientist Jouni Sorvari, who said climate change was the underlying cause.
Hornets have been especially common along the southern coast, in southeastern Finland, and in North Savo. Other wasps have been showing up this season in normal numbers.
The Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) has reported that July was exceptionally warm, especially in Finnish Lapland.
Studies have indicated that Finland's climate is warming significantly faster than the global average.
