tw: for pet health, possible cancer, etc
hi everyone. this is my baby, hugo. he's probably around 13 years old, and i've been taking care of him for around 7. he's really important to me; we've seen each other through some really hard times.
recently, my partner noticed his pupils were two different sizes. this immediately raised concerns and we took him to the pet hospital. the next day, his meow, notorious for being VERY high pitched, got significantly deeper. it was then that i found some sort of mass growing under his jaw. taking him to his usual vet, she said it's very likely he might have a tumor that is pressing on both his optic nerve and his vocal chords. in her opinion at the time, she recommended not trying to operate on it and said we may have to put him to sleep in the coming months if it worsened.
i was extremely devastated and had ultimately lost a lot of hope; but his blood tests came back very normal and stable the coming week, and his vet recommended taking him to see a specialist for a proper diagnosis of just what it is growing in there. more positively, we've also noticed that his pupils have seemed to get a little bit closer to being the same size.
we're taking him to a neurology specialist next week, and a CT scan is looking to be around 5 thousand USD. any help, whether it be a small donation, or even sharing with others, would be SO very deeply appreciated. and i'd also be willing to throw in a small optional portrait sketch at $30 donations or above. thank you so much!
