Figure-skating costume by Oscar de la Renta

Speaking of winter sports:

Here's the issue at the top for Kris Horn's team. You can see where Hunter Powell slips, then overcompensates trying to pull himself in. He bumps Ryan Rager and they both fall out. I'm not 100% sure what happened to Caleb Furnell back there. That said, incredible job by Horn to get that sled down

"World Cross Country Champs rocked by visa rejections – US denies visas for 14 Ethiopian athletes"

"Ethiopia has medalled in the U20 men’s race in every subsequent edition — 36 in total, the longest active streak for any country in any event at World XC."

"[The Ethiopian Athletics Federation’s general secretary said] the federation did not receive an explanation for the rejections."

India refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy from the Asian Cricket Council president, who is also the interior minister of Pakistan

@thetelegraph 🇮🇳 India won the Asia Cup on Sunday amid bizarre scenes in which they hoisted an imaginary trophy after refusing to accept it from Pakistan’s interior minister Mohsin Naqvi. India beat Pakistan by five wickets in the final at Dubai International Stadium with emotions running high between the sides following a brief military conflict between the nuclear-armed neighbours in May. The teams met three times at the tournament, with Indian players refusing to shake hands with their opponents throughout, and Sunday’s final ended in surreal circumstances with India celebrating their win by pretending to lift the cup. ESPN:
India's stance to not accept a trophy from Naqvi was expected. They had refused to shake hands with the Pakistan team members in any of the three games they played this tournament
...
"We have decided not to take the Asia Cup trophy from the ACC chairman, who happens to be one of the main [political] leaders of Pakistan," BCCI secretary ... told ANI. "So we decided not to take it from him. But that does not mean that the gentleman will take away the trophy with him along with the medals. So it is very unfortunate and we hope that the trophy and the medals will be returned to India as soon as possible.

Wild story about incredible dysfunction at the Sacramento Kings

It was bad enough when the owner's daughter was allegedly dating a former player, and that relationship had supposedly given the former player meaningful influence on the franchise.

But the new reveal is that, while the owner's daughter was serving as the minor league affiliate's general manager, she was allegedly having a romantic relationship with a player on the team. That player is being prosecuted for a murder he allegedly committed during the season.

Meanwhile, the team is posting the "top 10 clips of the 2024-25 season."

(Should be exciting to see if we get weekly scandalous news dumps on each team while the Clippers investigation is pending)

Fabulous podcast by Pablo Torre about what sounds like blatant corruption in the NBA, plus speculation for how the Clippers might try to get away with it

The latest episode of Pablo Torre Finds Out is around 90 minutes long, and features terrific storytelling about what seems like a nesting doll of corruption and criminality in politics, sports, and greenwashing.

Here's a thoughtful response from Dame Lillard's manager (he's posted additional thoughts):

And coincidentally, a new article I saw today (she's tweeted additional examples):
