Funny story about a rookie Formula 1 driver deciding to break a kart record on a track he stumbled upon while on vacation
He was vacationing with his girlfriend's family, and they challenged him to break the record:
After struggling to beat the record for hours, he took fuel out of the car, treated the engine with a leaf blower to try and cool it down, and enlisted his girlfriend's help to take care of the tyres..."Someone was slipstreaming me on the straights and then moving out of the way at the last minute so I could do the lap. I went with normal clothes, but I made sure to have shorts and a thin t-shirt on to keep the weight down. And even on the straights, I was head down.

Wild, wild F1 story developing
The Alpine Formula One team is partly owned by Renault and based in England and France. It's really struggled for the last few years (often in comical ways). Some very famous Americans invested in 2023.
A few days ago, after only six races, they announced that their rookie driver was being replaced by a former F1 driver who had previously performed in a pretty lackluster way. Then their "team principal" (think starship captain) suddenly resigned. Commentators initially assumed he did so due to a dispute about replacing the rookie,
But no, it seems much, much more scandalous than that.
