In their 2025 Annual Review, the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre just sent a clear message that passkeys are the future of secure online authentication. In a dedicated section of the report, they’re calling for passkeys to become the default, as a way of strengthening the UK’s cyber resilience against credential theft, phishing, and other attack vectors. For CISOs, product owners, and digital leaders, this should be read as a policy signal:  - Plan your migration away from passwords and legacy factors now. - Treat remaining passwords as a documented risk, and  - Ensure your account recovery and device binding journeys are robust. By featuring passkeys this way, the NCSC is effectively saying that modern identity is now critical national infrastructure, and it’s imperative that organizations act now to stay resilient as the threat landscape continues to escalate.
