Perplexity is tied for first place with Google in search grounded LLM completions on LMArena's new leaderboard: Search Arena, beating Gemini 53% of the time, and citing 2-3x more sources than Gemini for more in-depth citation-filled answers. Additionally, Sonar is 50-90% cheaper than competitive models while outperforming them on factuality. This is why we are seeing 5x+ growth in Perplexity Sonar model usage from the start of the year.
