About us
Notion blends your everyday work tools into one. Product roadmap? Company wiki? Meeting notes? With Notion, they're all in one place, and totally customizable to meet the needs of any workflow. It's the all-in-one workspace for you, your team, and your whole company. We humans are toolmakers by nature, but most of us can't build or modify the software we use every day — arguably our most powerful tool. Our team at Notion is on a mission to make it possible for everyone to shape the tools that shape their lives.

Agents need full context to do their best work. Context is the artifacts humans create and the data our systems generate. Humans need to inspect, evaluate, edit, and approve what agents produce. It has to show up in a format we can understand. In a world where humans and agents collaborate, at least for the foreseeable future, both sides need to be legible to each other. This is the infrastructure Notion provides. We didn’t set out to build this exact thing, but we’re in a uniquely fortuitous position to connect both sides well.

Two roommates—a litigator and an AI researcher—spotted a transformational opportunity in legal. Since 2022, their valuation hit $8 billion. This is Harvey: the defining applied AI story of the last few years. We heard directly from Gabe Pereyra, Co-founder of Harvey, in conversation with our own Akshay Kothari, Co-founder of Notion. Harvey is an AI platform built for large law firms and their clients, helping thousands of lawyers collaborate on complex matters with the power of generative AI. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱: 𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗲. Gabe's background was in AI research, but it was Winston's experience with law firms that made Harvey possible. Finding a true domain expert as a co-founder is a critical advantage. 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹. Harvey's early instinct was to build a general-purpose legal AI rather than starting with one specific workflow. The winning product became a comprehensive AI associate capable of handling anything. 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗚𝗧𝗠 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵. Harvey landed massive seven-figure deals very early, even before having sales infrastructure to support. Gabe says building a repeatable sales machine was one of the steepest learning curves, and where they got the most help. Check out the full conversation in the latest episode of First Block.
