Gemma 4 is here. 💻 We’ve built a new family of open models based on the same world class research and tech as Gemini 3. “Open” means the model weights are yours to download, customize, and run on your own hardware. ⚖️ Four sizes: High-performance versions for workstations (31B Dense & 26B MoE) and highly optimized “Edge” versions (E4B & E2B) built specifically for mobile. 🧠 Advanced reasoning: Capable of multi-step planning and deep logic with native vision and audio support. 🤖 Built for agents: Native tool use lets you build autonomous systems that can actually do things, like search databases or trigger APIs. 🔒 Apache 2.0 License: Complete flexibility to build, fine-tune, and deploy however you want. Start building with Gemma 4 now in Google AI Studio. You can also download the model weights from Hugging Face, Kaggle, or Ollama. Find out more → https://goo.gle/4cb8LBE

We're committed to solving intelligence, to advance science and benefit humanity.
About us
We’re a team of scientists, engineers, machine learning experts and more, working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges, ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority. Our long term aim is to solve intelligence, developing more general and capable problem-solving systems, known as artificial general intelligence (AGI). Guided by safety and ethics, this invention could help society find answers to some of the world’s most pressing and fundamental scientific challenges. We have a track record of breakthroughs in fundamental AI research, published in journals like Nature, Science, and more. Our programs have learned to diagnose eye diseases as effectively as the world’s top doctors, to save 30% of the energy used to keep data centres cool, and to predict the complex 3D shapes of proteins - which could one day transform how drugs are invented.

We’re sharing new research into how AI might be misused to exploit emotions or manipulate people into making harmful choices. Our study of 10,000 people reveals that AI manipulation is dependent on domain. While models demonstrated high influence in finance, they hit a wall in healthcare, where existing guardrails helped block false medical advice. By identifying red flag tactics – like using fear – we can build stronger protections. We’ve built an empirically validated, first-of-its-kind toolkit to measure AI manipulation in the real world – to better understand how it can occur and help protect people. Modern AI systems reflect those who build them. That’s why it’s important we equip a variety of learners with the skills to build AI tools that are both locally relevant, and globally impactful. Today, Google DeepMind is adding new courses to its AI Research Foundations curriculum on Google Skills. Developed with UCL and crafted in consultation with lecturers, students and grassroots AI communities in Africa, it has been designed to give learners a deep understanding of modern AI technologies. This means the AI researchers of the future can learn to build and fine-tune models responsibly, from the ground up. We’re pleased that our colleagues at Google.org are supporting the next phase of this initiative, with $4 million in funding. This collaboration, with African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) and FATE Foundation, will support African educators to roll out this curriculum in classrooms across the continent, with lecturer training and specialized instructional toolkits. I want to thank and congratulate my team at Google DeepMind, who has worked tirelessly to bring this freely accessible curriculum to fruition. Read more about it, and access the courses, in the comments.

We’re excited to unveil the name of our new London building: Platform 37. 📍 The name honors both the surrounding area’s transport heritage and "Move 37" – the critical moment where our AI system AlphaGo showed it could find novel solutions humans hadn't considered. As part of our focus on sustainability, it’s been built with low-carbon materials and features a rooftop garden designed with the London Wildlife Trust to support biodiversity. We’ll continue our work there to make breakthroughs on the path to artificial general intelligence. Later this year, we’re also opening The AI Exchange at Platform 37. It will be a dedicated public space for everyone to explore the future of AI through free exhibitions, events and educational programming. Find out more → https://goo.gle/4rnhRk5
