After nearly two decades of backing independent sellers, Big Cartel has a bold new look. We partnered with How&How and Extraset to create a refreshed identity that reflects the energy, grit, and individuality of the sellers we serve. It’s still us—just sharper. Still free to start. Still seller-first. Same mission, with a look that finally keeps up with our sellers. → Check out the full story After nearly two decades of backing independent sellers, Big Cartel has a bold new look. We're sporting a fresh design and new branding thanks to our partnership with How&How. As Cat How wrote in the case study linked below, "The central illustration style—inspired by the ideas entrepreneurs scribble into notebooks—hits that bang on the nose, establishing a free-spirited tone the rest of the elements aspire to. Whether it’s the punchy voice that motivates members to market their wares or the headline style that cuts through any doubt."
Big Cartel. The name rings a bell, right? The original e-commerce platform—a bookmark of any half-serious 00s internet entrepreneur—has come of age. Because Big Cartel has, and always will, mean business. Since 2005, hordes of creatives have used it to launch themselves to the world: selling $2.5 Billion dollars worth of goods on its app ✨ But it hasn’t always been smooth selling. In a bustling bazaar of online portfolios, resale sites and handmade event stationery, this shop’s got a little busy. That’s why How&How were brought on board to re-centre the focus, helping Big Cartel do the one thing Big Cartel helps others do: sell itself. How did we do this? By helping them reconnect with their scrappy, gutsy and glorious narrative and embrace: "goodbye, caution!" Case Study here → https://lnkd.in/dD2Jbznj ------- Huge thanks to the awesome Big Cartel team, for being such kind, considerate and most-chilled 😎 of partners, in particular Joey Sweeney Mike Feldman Karsyn Ansari Trevin Chow DJ Brinkerhoff Hannah Dhonau Kathleen Lutheran and Robert Hickey 🙏 As well as wonderful Toby Wilkinson and Nick Bell for helping us make the magic happen ✨ ------- And of course our incredible all-star team at H&H - Joana Jardim Meg Bathard Jamie Austen Stefano Barbieri Callum Richards Eilidh Reid Fraser Campbell Priyjah Paramasivam Jess Strange Raaya Pathare Chris Clayton Will Nicklin Genevieve Edwards Jack Wimmer Matthew G. Rob Simpson alongside our typographic partners Extraset. You're all bloody brilliant.

We're grateful for four days as a whole company spent together in Nashville: a chance to collaborate in-person on Big Cartel's future (and this time, cowboy hat designs). As Trevin Chow said, "As a fully remote team, these in-person retreats are where the real magic happens..."
…and that’s a wrap on Big Cartel spring #IndieFest! We get together as a full company twice a year, and this time we landed in Nashville. As a fully remote team, these in-person retreats are where the real magic happens—from deep strategy jams to competitive bowling, tiki bar detours, and late-night karaoke. This time we even made custom cowboy hats, complete with branded burns of our shiny new logo—a perfect nod to our fresh rebrand and our indie spirit. Huge shoutout to Kathleen Lutheran, our magical Chief of Staff, for pulling off another unforgettable event. We honestly don’t know what we’d do without you!

There's a common misconception that as a handmade business or indie seller, you have to either sell on a marketplace like Etsy OR your own website. Use both! Keep control over your brand, customer relationships, and profits with your own e-commerce storefront (enter: Big Cartel) while leveraging a marketplace like Etsy as a sales channel to get you more exposure. Fera breaks it down perfectly. #etsysellers #handmadebusinesses #indiebusiness #smallbusiness #ecommerce #smallbusinesstips
💡 Why choose between Big Cartel or Etsy when you can use 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩? (And no—you don’t need to double your work.) Here are the two platforms that smart sellers use: ✔ Big Cartel = full control, no listing fees, and your own custom shop ✔ Etsy = trusted marketplace with built-in shoppers Each platform offers unique benefits—and using both can help you reach more people and make more sales. 👉Learn more about these platforms and the benefits of using them together: https://lnkd.in/duMBkQ8u
