The idea for "A Life Inside Me" first came to writer-director Jackie R. Bala in 2017, and the story stayed with him for years. Despite his dedication, the project faced multiple delays due to limited funding. During this time, Jackie directed several short films that received national and international recognition, including awards from Dadasaheb Phalke and IFFI.
Production officially began in October 2022, although filming only commenced on the eighth day due to weather and logistical challenges. From the outset, the film was a true independent effort, with the core team handling multiple roles. Producer Ajitesh Gupta supported various departments, managing on-ground logistics and overall planning. Jackie oversaw several technical areas himself, and during one schedule, his parents even cooked meals for the crew. Mahi Kumar joined the production team during the final schedule.
Post-production brought new hurdles. Jackie had a clear creative vision, but with limited resources, the team took on most of the editing, marketing, and poster design themselves. Mahi Kumar played a key role in leading the post-production and publicity efforts, while Jackie and Ajitesh collaborated closely throughout the process.
Shot across three schedules, the film is a reflection of persistence, teamwork, and belief in the power of storytelling - a heartfelt journey that highlights what can be accomplished when passion drives the process.
