Apple on Friday announced a five-year deal with F1 for the exclusive U.S. rights to its series of races beginning in 2026, bringing the racing league into the streamer’s stable of sports rights that include soccer and baseball. The deal will see Apple pay roughly $150 million a year or $750 million over five years, according to an individual with knowledge of the pact.
The F1 deal comes just as Apple rebranded its streaming service from “Apple TV+” to simply “Apple TV,” and it follows the record-breaking haul of its Brad Pitt-led “F1,” which became the highest-grossing sports film of all time after its $629 million gross this year, following its June release.

It takes a village to raise a monster.
For Guillermo del Toro’s long-awaited adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic novel Frankenstein, he assembled a cast to die for. And like Victor Frankenstein building his creature, del Toro was looking for a particular body part. “I cast eyes,” the Academy Award–winning filmmaker tells Netflix. “The eyes of the actor are what makes the character.”
Take the film’s central pairing: Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as the creature he creates. “You need Oscar’s eyes in order to know that he’s tortured and he thinks he’s doing good and he’s driven,” del Toro says.

PBS president and CEO Paula Kerger is in a race against time. Usually, public TV and radio stations across the country receive their annual financial grants from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in November. But after President Donald Trump signed a rescission bill in July, the $1.1 billion in federal funding that had been earmarked for public broadcasting in 2026 and 2027 was eliminated — forcing a scramble to fill that financial gap. That’s particularly urgent for smaller stations in rural markets that depended more on federal funds to remain in operation.

Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) had just told him he wasn’t going to continue working in the residency program at Grey Sloan Memorial, which meant his future as a surgeon was uncertain. Everything changed, though, in the aftermath of the explosion when his skills and suggestions became key to saving Atticus “Link” Lincoln’s (Chris Carmack) life. After that, Teddy invited him to finish his term, and his sharp handling of the construction worker case convinced Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) to name him chief resident. Horror master and childhood nightmare-maker R.L. Stine has another creation heading to the small screen. Tubi’s Pumpkinhead, originally a short story from 1999’s Nightmare Hour, follows a teenager named Sam whose family moves to the seemingly quiet town of Redhaven, only to uncover a sinister harvest curse after his brother Finn mysteriously vanishes, and no one else even remembers he existed. In 2011, Pumpkinhead was adapted into an episode of R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour, expanding the lore and altering the characters while retaining its eerie, gourd-centered curse. Now, Tubi is offering a new version that digs even deeper into the dark mythology and original story, trading in...

Predictably, Weiss’ arrival at CBS News rattled the troops. WGA East warned staffers to not reply to her memo asking for details on “how you spend your working hours” until the union received assurances that the responses wouldn’t factor into layoffs or “discipline.

A Wheel of Fortune contestant, who is a mom of three, lost out on taking home a car after she didn’t solve the Bonus Round puzzle. Fans said the puzzle “stumped” them after the game show contestant only got one additional letter. Kelly Amodio, from Waxhaw, North Carolina, played against David Spellings, from Memphis, Tennessee, and Reese Beckett, from Mansfield, Texas, on October 16. Amodio used to go to a female neighbor’s house, who would play gin rummy, loved spaghetti, and watch Wheel of Fortune. Spellings, a Tennessee sports fan, solved the first toss-up. Amodio solved the second one very quickly. During the first puzzle, she landed on the $10,000 St.

Since 2012, super-producer Dick Wolf has built an empire atop the foundation established by “Chicago Fire,” expanding the series into an entire universe of procedurals with their own dedicated night on NBC. Now that rival network CBS has a firefighting hit of its own in “Fire Country” (now entering its fourth season), the broadcast institution appears to be following the same first-responder procedural playbook. A spinoff, “Sheriff Country,” premieres this week; if the show succeeds, one imagines “Med Country” and “Justice Country” can’t be too far behind.

Ahead of the next round of planned nationwide “No Kings” protests this weekend, the cohosts of The View reacted to what several high-profile Republicans had to say about the largely left-leaning gatherings. Joy Behar started the conversation by framing the protests as speaking out against “Trump sending troops to American cities, bullying media institutions, and cracking down on comedians.” The panel then reviewed footage of prominent Republicans in power, including Trey Bessent, Steve Scalise, and Mike Johnson, framing the rallies as “unhinged” and a “hate-America rally.” “What is he so scared of?” Behar pondered of Speaker Johnson’s statement on the matter. “He’s so scared.” Sara Haines offered an...

Chicago Fire season 14, episode 3 (“In the Blood”) aired on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, and it wastes no time showing how citywide budget decisions ripple through Firehouse 51. Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) learns Engine 51 is pulled with less than two hours’ notice, Randall “Mouch” McHolland (Christian Stolte) is suddenly off the board, and a shift-crushing ambulance crash pushes Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) and Lizzy/Lyla Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) to fight for reforms. Meanwhile, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) steadies the house as Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) struggles to connect with Isaiah (Hero Hunter), and Sal Vasquez (Brandon Larracuente) quietly digs into his father’s past.

For the fifth and final season of “Stranger Things,” creators Matt and Ross Duffer (as they explained in interviews for Variety’s Oct. 15 cover story) did not want to leave any major plot threads or character arcs unfinished. “We do every last remaining thing we wanted to do with the Demogorgons and Mind Flayer and Vecna and the Upside Down and Hawkins and these characters,” Matt Duffer said. “This is a complete story. It’s done.”
That kind of definitive statement only makes the Duffers’ plans for a “Stranger Things” spinoff show — first announced in summer 2022 after the release of “Stranger Things 4″ — more intriguing,...

It sharpens the political stakes around London Mayor Zafar Jaffrey and challenger Dennis Gimball, and it spotlights Park’s power brokers — Diana Taverner, Flyte, and Claude Whelan — as their pressure tactics collide with Slough House’s improvisation.

Sabrina Carpenter’s seventh studio album, Man’s Best Friend is, as Carpenter describes on her Instagram, “a celebration of disappointment! It’s laughing at yourself and your poor choices as everything is falling apart.” If you’ve heard and related to her hit single “Manchild,” then you know exactly what she’s talking about.
It’s no surprise that Carpenter can laugh at herself, as her sense of humor has been a constant in her career as a singer — and as an actor. In 2020’s Work It, Carpenter shows off her physical comedy skills as a high school senior who has to learn how to dance in order to get into her dream college.
