I was blown away. The song at the end of the first episode is absolutely beautiful. I can't say enough good things about this show. It brings me so much joy. Everything about it is on point, just everything. I haven't been so excited about something since my 13 year old self discovered high school musical haha.
The story is so well written, the acting is spot on, and the songs are absolutely perfect. Me and my kids can't stop listening to their soundtrack and we've already memorized all the lyrics. Even my 2-year-old asks to hear the songs all day long. It's such a joy to see the Word of God being shared in a way that speaks to teens (and families too!). Truly uplifting, inspiring, and fun - we can't wait for more seasons!
I am so excited about this series! I love musicals but haven't been to the theater lately and feeling the withdrawal.
A Week Away isn't only an entertaining musical, but also a wholesome, fun, and meaningful Christian series on Angel. It follows teenagers navigating challenges and changes in their lives while at summer camp.
Even though the series' focus is on young adults, I still enjoyed it tremendously. The enthusiasm, dancing, and singing is so engaging and left me feeling inspired. (The renditions of Amazing Grace touched me so deeply!)
The music is infectious, the dancing is so fun to watch, and the acting is over-the-top and comical. But even though humor is evident and the stereotypes of Christian camp and its campers are riddled throughout, the underlying messages are incredibly evocative. Max is relatable, Lennie is sweet, and Charlie is easy to empathize with, but the spotlight performance (for me) is the youth pastor, Jeremy, who comes off as authentic, caring, and a shining light for God.
With themes of faith, hope, love, and the healing power of friends and family, this show is sure to touch your heart and encourage you. I especially appreciate how "family" isn't always represented by the one you were born into, which is especially significant to those raised in dysfunctional, challenged, or non-traditional homes. Sometimes "found families" can be just as impactful.
This series is fun, and the messages are poignant and potentially life changing.

I'm pretty sure this is the best Christian musical you're going to find. There's definitely some cheesiness to it but eventually I started loving those moments just like the others. A lot of talent went into this show and it paid off. I'll be adding a few of the songs to my every day playlists on Apple Music. Two or three of the songs really blew me away. The storyline also was very impressive.
I was blown away with how much I loved this series. It is better than the movie! I recommend it to anyone who loves musicals, but also wants a strong storyline. It definitely has some HSM and Camp Rock vibes. There are even some Easter eggs throughout from both HSM and the A Week Away movie.
I hope this is just the beginning of the series and that it continues for more seasons to come.
(There is also a docuseries coming out for it that makes it even cooler to see how God had His hand in every detail of the show.)
